I saw this vid of Ola Englund using his iPhone and getting some pretty sick tone out of it and I just had to try it as I thought it almost had to be fake. So I bought the App for iPad, and while there is a catch (App is 10 bux, but the "Metal" amp pack is another $8), it does actually sound pretty freakin killer and I've tried pretty much every Guitar App you can think of for iPad/iPhone. NONE have the tone/gain this thing has. My previous fav was AMPKIT+ (Used by Alex Skolnick from Testament) but it's really not even close to this. It's so good I think you could actually attach it to a power amp and guitar cabinet and use it to jam and perhaps even gig.

I"ve got a ALESIS IO chasis for my iPad and an Alesis Midi pedal so I'm gonna see if I can set it up to foot switch presets.

Yep, I have many of the amp simulators for the iPad, but JamUp is the only one I've been using lately. I love the VoxAC30. Not sure I'd use it with a cabinet since, as far as I know, there's no way to disable the cabinet emulator. If you're using it live, just plug it into the mixing board.

Amazing tool! Every time that I saw this things I wish to have an iphone or ipad. This is so cool, useful and the tone is great. Amplitube offers something similar and seems to be good too.

I agree smile.gif It's the best one I've tried. I bought the BOOGIE head and was Stunned at the gain/tone.

The AMPLITUDE product is quite good. As is AMP KIT +, but honestly this one sounds better IMHO. Really impressive for a mobile device and in general. Great tone shaping.

Man technology these days is getting insane. Less than 10 years ago I had a little flip phone that couldn't even browse the web, much less model guitar amps with a shocking amount of quality.

I can only imagine what we'll have at our disposal in 10 more years.

Here is JEFF LOOMIS jamming with KEITH MERROW using the JAMUP App that this thread is all about. They really get some killer tones out of it. I hope they share those patches cause I want them!

Hi Todd, you can get the free JamUp Lite version and then buy the expansion packs that you are interested in, so if you are only interested in the Metal Expansion pack you don't have to buy the JamUp Pro version

I bought jam up a long time ago smile.gif I wasn't talking about the components he's using, just his presets. I downloaded all of Ola Englunds preset and they are AMAZING so I hope Merrow shares his too. With Jam Up, you can download custom presets made by folks and share your own.

It's honestly my fav app right now for ipad/iphone/ipod for guitar emulation.

It's an AMAZING little app. It's reallly good enough to record with. I think are going to see these types of rigs showing up in live playing situations. It's just a matter of time. A rack mount device that would provide input output that you could sit the ipad in would do the trick.

I've got the Alesis IO for ipad but it's not designed for rack mounting really. YOu could put it on a rack shelf or something, but a flip out rack enclosure would be ideal. One with a tube preamp circuit built in and XLR output would be nice.

Can't wait to see this possible... using your iphone for live playing... that would be amazing!

I think we are going to start seeing iPad/Ipods/iPhones being used more and more in live situations now that the sound quality on programs like JAM UP has gotten so KILLER. smile.gif The last NAMM show introd a ton of new products based on mobile devices.

Since these things are really just a small computer, now with dual core processor chips, and fast graphics, they can do an amazing job processing audio.

I gave a live demo of JAM UP PRO using my alesis dock in a Video Chat Lesson just to try smile.gif Worked out great!

I know we have Funtwo and/or Canon Rock and/or JamUp Pro fans & I noticed this was just uploaded. Do you think he can play this in his sleep by now?

I think I may just have to get the JamUp App. smile.gif

It's my current FAV ipad/ipod/iphone app on the Market. IMHO it just has more high gain craziness than all the other contennders combined. I have all the other contenders as well, but this one is by far my go to app.

Hello GMC wink.gif

In this video,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=playe...p;v=ruipSVgXBl4
we can see the musicians use Grid Positive with their macbook pro.

How to make it work the same way ?

Also, in connection with this video demonstration, two other questions:

1 / on the sound quality. It leaves it directly macbooks (in which case, it's really impressive) or the software it is connected to spécial external speakers ?

2 / If is possible to launch Positive Grid via a Macbook Pro, is the software compatible with an external sound card such UX2 (Line 6) ?

Thanks Guys !

Jamup is awesome, I used to think that it was pretty identical to AmpKit but having tested it more I find Jamup more "organic" somehow.

AmpKit has a really big advantage though - it records bot wet and dry so you can export the dry tracks afterwards and reamp them with VST amp sims on your computer.

Jam up is not running on the macbook. It's running on his Ipad. It's an app for MOBILE DEVICES. So you need an IOS device to use it. Iphone,iPod,iPad etc. They may release and ANDROID version at some point though smile.gif

NICE!! I haven't seen anything this awesome since Todd's last collab take... smile.gif It's funny... I had this still in my search engine on itunes store but couldn't install it due to needing an update on my iPhone. I need to update my iOS, then I'm getting it. smile.gif

Thanks for sharing!

YouTube user ZOMB13 uses the JamUp up for all of his live guitar use. Sounds pretty good! He's a cool guy and knows how to work the unit so if you've got questions he'd be the dude to ask.
