Hope you don't mind if I do a shameless plug for a favorite indie game of mine - Mount and Blade. It's an awesome third person/first person kind of... strategy game.. hard to explain, honestly I've never played anything like it. It's like taking Medieval: TW and going into first person and fighting. Not finished though.
If you want to download M&B, I suggest you go here: http://forums.taleworlds.net/index.php/topic,26287.0.html and download version 8.9x, rather than going to the download page and getting .808. The new version is a huge improvement over the old one, but they just released it I think tuesday or monday, so there's a few bugs to work out before they feel its stable enough to put onto the main page. But I'd still get 8.9 [edit: slammer mentioned that I should tell you it's a full version download, but unless you buy the game - well worth the price which is $22 right now, will be $29 when it's finished - it'll limit you to level 6 and ask you to purchase the game.. well worth the price, I paid 14 for it a few versions ago, and even then it was better than most $60 dollar games] Otherwsie, the aforementioned Medieval: Total War Final Fantasy 3 (5 in japan) Monkey Island (entire series) Morrowind Half Life 1 and 2, plus Opposing Force  Diablo 1 & 2 Warcraft 1 & 2 Starcraft Zelda including Links Awakening, Ocarina of Time, Majoras Mask and Wind Walker (haven't played the new one unfortunately) KOTOR 1 & 2 Fallout 1 & 2 Everquest 1 Asheron's Call Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy There's plenty of others... these are a few standouts

In no particular order:
1. Vietcong 2. Return to Castle Wolfenstein 3. Medal Of Honor (all of them) 4. Call Of Duty(all of them) 5. Tiberian Sun 6. Cossacks: Back To War 7. Battlefield 2 8. ES 4: Oblivion 9. Commandos 2: Men Of Courage (i love all Commandos but this one is particular good) 10. Desperados (like Commandos, but it's Wild West theme) There are more but i think these 10 are enough!  I can play these games all day long! All of them!
