I don't understand how it is possible to downpick 16th notes in 190 bpm. If you just put an upstroke in there, considering friction, time to pass the string with the pick etc, hitting 300 bpm (without it 380 bpm, 16th notes (not possible...) with alternate picking should be no problem. Are you sure it's 16th notes with only down picking?
That would be like: 
190_bpm_down_picking.mid ( 1.22K )

Yeah, I think we're talking 8th notes. That was merely what I was questioning. Because if anyone here can down pick at 220 bpm with 16th notes, that would be a world record.

As said...I can't even down pick that fast. 140 bpm with 8th notes, then I'm not getting any further.

Nice dude, my comfort down picking speed is 190bpm. Maybe I should give it a try so I can play master of puppets without AP

i can 220 bpm 8th notes as well
just tried it haha sweeti can also do it in 8th note triplets at 150! whoo, didnt realize it was that fast --------------------  |

You set the metronome to the desired speed. When you start playing and it feels right you reached the speed
