String Durability?

Would you say that a locking tremolo has more string durability than a hardtail or tune-o-matic?
Whenever I attempt to go after those faster alternate picking runs, my Ibanez ARX320 feels very...flimsy, even with new strings installed. Any ideas?

my ARX is a tune-o-matic, I use .9-.42 strings, and I use a 1.0mm pick

Thanks again!

Have you tried to maybe get a more thicker gauge set, like 10-46, or hybrid 9-52?

Yes, fixed bridge is not moving and strings are fixed between two spots under same tension, which may cause string snap easier, while floating bridge has springs on one side that decrease a tension a bit, and it can prolong string life smile.gif

Maybe you want to change the gauge on that Ibanez to thicker strings...They will definitely have higher tension so won't feel so flimsy.

Changing the strings was definately my next thing to try :]

I actually stopped by my local guitar shop and compared an Ibanez RG to a Fender Japanese Strat, and then the RG to a string through Schecter

I didnt have enough time to fully test the three, but it did seem like it was a lot easier to pick the strings

Thanks for the input guys!
