hey guys!
Ive really started expanding my taste and music and my sphere has touched soft rock and other mellow music types right now it consists almost entirely of

Porcupine Tree
Coldplay
Red Hot Chili Peppers
William Fitzsimmons
Anathema
The Beatles
Ben Harper
Jack Johnson
G love and the Special Sauce

theres not much there sad.gif so im looking for some soft rock that isn't too mainstream smile.gif accoustic or electric guitars are welcome, drone, anything that is really mellow and emotional kind of deal but nothing with whinny vocals or complaining bands where all the members are 14 PLEASE! Real music but just softer smile.gif

THANKS GMC smile.gif

She doesn't play guitar, but if you want emotional music, check out Tori Amos, she rules big time.

You should really check out this finnish band "Tenhi". Their music is VERY mellow and usually only instrumental, very acoustic-driven. Here are some of their songs:

Dude, check out Jamiroquai, Elvis Costello (well, if you like the whole poppy rock thing like the beatles), Dire Straits have a lot of really good soft stuff.. Ben Folds, Beck, Tom Petty, Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, The smashing pumpkins have a lot of good slow stuff (and a lot of good heavy stuff), the police, the libertines, the doors, sublime, stereophonics, pink floyd, nine inch nails (yes I'm kind of going up my library here tongue.gif)... lastly i'd say some good ol' john lennon if you like the beatles.

If you consider Porcupine Tree a softer band, then I suppose you don't need it to be that soft. laugh.gif

Anyways, try out these:

Explosions in the Sky - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36U4ez7AzKA
Blackfield (with Steven Wilson!) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrIqp4vBgP8
Camel - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-aezncdri9Y
Eluvium - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_HG__6exOE
Head Control System - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwrtQOZgavM (Ok, not soft, but since you had Porcupine Tree as a soft band it could still work. Great band nevertheless)
Jan Johansson - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0CeqBE_EP7A
Red Sparrowes - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diMHtsrBiR0
Sigur Rós - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0AZIFmkogY

That'll be enough for now.

I don't think I'd say that they play very much mellow music, but still you could check out Gorillaz.
Another band would be The National Bank. Check out Thomas Dybdahl too, the vocalist in that band smile.gif

Pick up Stevie Ray Vaughan's version of "Little Wing". It is instrumental, and definitely a mellow feel to it. It will give you goosebumps!
