hey there i got o problem when doing tapping... and i'm not realy sure wht is it.
the chords that i tapp sound verry quiet and the others very powerfull , so if i play a riff it sounds really strong , and if i continue with a tapp i almost cant't hear it.
is my tapping tehnique wrong, or is some pickup problem ... or maybe the amp...
has anyone any ideea about this ??
...and my gain is at maximum....so... i don't know.
please give me your advice.
thanks

I guess you tap by "tapping" or gently toucing the string. You should sort of flick the string.. i'm not finding the english word for it, like pick the string with your tapping finger after hitting the string, not just gently release it.

Ok, so you mean if you were tapping this:

e|--6-9-13--6-9-13--6-9--13
b|------------------------------
g|------------------------------
d|------------------------------
a|------------------------------
e|------------------------------

Your problom is that the 6th fret isn't loud enough right? Because if it is i went through this problom too. What i found is i wasn't hitting the string hard enough. Sometimes you really need to jackhammer those notes in order to get some sound. If you are still having probloms you should look into buying an overdrive pedal for your guitar tha will make the sound a lot louder than it would be with just the amp.

yepp, thanks man
i guess that is my problem ... i mean bouth of them biggrin.gif
i did some more practice on this and i found that i nead to hit the chors harder then i did, but i still nead some effect to make the sound louder...so i guess you're right , i should buy some overdrive.

Thanks

The idea of needing a pedal/effect to make a technique like tapping work makes me itch.

My my tapping and hammer-ons sound OK but I know they need work. My left hand's weak but I'm working on it. There's a lot of exercises out there to try to help out with that. Kris has one in the beginner's section on hammer-on's and pull-offs.

Also you should look at your setup and settings. My amp's a modeling amp, and I've noticed that the higher gain modes get better results since it's more sensitive to what's going on with the strings. The volume knob on your guitar too. If you're still not getting anything, I'd take a look at how far your pickups are from the strings...maybe the action is too high or the pickups are set too low?
