Another thing I"ve always hoped for in the next rev of midi is that it allows either in of the cable to take on any form factor available. E.G. USB, USB C etc. With proper drivers in hardware/software, we dont need the old pin outs anymore. Thunderbolt is a good example of a single inteface cable that can carry any information from video to network data to usb data.
