GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ Which Flanger Pedal?

Posted by: dcz702 Mar 25 2013, 12:43 AM

I'm going to add a flanger to my pedalboard, its between the boss, tc electronic vortex and mxr micro flanger. I chose those pedals mainly because the size, my pedalboard is about full. Anyone been able to test all three of these? My local music shop only has the boss and I liked how it sounded by I am a fan of tc and mxr. I also noticed there are a few pedals that have both chorus and flanger wich would also be a option as I could replace my boss chorus with one of those.

I only tried Boss Flanger and I like it. The best would be to try each of them if it's possible. If not, you can use Youtube videos to hear how each of them sound. But once again, the bes would be to try them.

Like the guys say, test them if you can. Even if you have to travel a bit. You can get a decent idea from youtube. The BOSS pedal is a solid unit. The TC is a bit more "boutique" sounding and the MXR is really, really sturdy and a bit smaller footprint.

The MOOER "electric lady flanger" is a spiff unit for under $100 U.S. that is about half the width of a standard pedal. Here is a vid.
