GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ Superize Could You Help Me Out

Posted by: OrganisedConfusion Dec 10 2008, 04:55 PM

I know you love power metal. I just wondered which songs you think are doable on guitar and mainly practice alternate picking but not too fast biggrin.gif A list of 5 would be great smile.gif

And know this isn't for your MTP entry. Honest tongue.gif laugh.gif

Also anybody else that knows about power metal can help as I know it is great for alternate picking practice as a genre.

By Alternate picking you mean like tremelo picking?

No. Picking as in up/down strokes around scales. Not tremelo picking quickly.

Songs like Speed of Light by Stratovarius. But not that quick laugh.gif

Do Angra have slower songs at all or are all power metal songs pretty quick with the picking?

I've been trying to learn Murderer by Helloween.

The point with power metal is that it is supposed to go fast

Posted by: OrganisedConfusion Dec 10 2008, 05:12 PM

Anybody else know of any power metal type songs that aren't so incredibly silly with the picking?

My mate showed us how to do it. You need fancy pants software to do it lol. My mate can do it in Sonar without changing pitch or anything but it is kind of cheating lol laugh.gif You sure you not doing a pitch change rather than a tempo change tongue.gif biggrin.gif

Metal Church - Monster

Pretty easy power metal song that crunches along nicely... it's just a good tune.

Posted by: audiopaal Dec 10 2008, 11:16 PM

Check out some GammaRay songs smile.gif

If you like Stratovarius, you may like Kamelot, i would say they just simpler version smile.gif but very cool sounding still, bad that guitars sounds a bit quiet compared to a voice, so tabbing them be ear would not very great idea..(if it`s on youtube, not original albums of course)
Check album Karma, Epica and Fourth Legacy. But Kamelot mostly is riffs, but imho this i great for "galloping" development:) Also you can try some songs from Rhapsody of Fire.

Did you check my rec OC? Its a pretty decent speed power metal. Not hard, so definitely obtainable.

Angra do have some slower tunes, that are good for practices, Although Kiko uses some odd patterns at times.

Posted by: enforcer Dec 13 2008, 09:03 PM

You can try some Iced Earth songs...
