I'm getting this whole MIDI/REAPER/VSTi thing figured out. It's so cool.
Can you recommend some good cheap/free VSTi plug-ins for me? At this point, I'm mostly looking for drums, keys and maybe some woodwind/brass sounds.
Thanks for the help.

I don't use any free ones at the moment, but try these sites:

http://freemusicsoftware.org/
You can probably find some good ones here
Ohmforce free plugs are cool try those.
Edirol Hyper Canvas and Orquestal is cheap and is good for demos.
Not exactly the best.. but it's hillarious to fool around with for an hour or two

I use 'mda Piano' sometimes, you can hear it in backing tracks of my classical lessons, a decent piano vst

yeah, great sites here and great VSTs... there are a lot of great VSts (I have a folder with 200 or more but there are also someones too bad )
Also check out the KVR web site - v good for info and user reviews on VSTs and VSTIs and links to the manufacturers of free/share and pay-to-use ware.
As for a fav free VSTI - Green Oak's Crystal = been around for ages but it's still a great freebie imo. Two others worth a mention - Triangle II (RGC Audio) and MicroTera (VirSynth). Sadly I don't think Micro is available anymore .
Cheers,
Tony
