Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

This is excellent, my friend !

Your picking is very accurate and your fretting hand is precise.

The only thing that could make it sound better is more effective palm muting.

At the moment you play with your picking hand quite close to the bridge so that the palm muting doesn't have much effect. If you brought your hand slightly forward you should be able to get more of that crunchy palm muted sound.

Everything else is great smile.gif

Hey bro!

I agree with Ben here and I suggest you to experiment with moving your right hand accross the strings until you reach a sweetspot that can provide the optimal balance between hearing the muffled sound and the note as well. DIfferent players have different preferences, you as well, most likely, but since in the REC Zone we are aiming to get as close as possible to the original recordings in order to learn the techniques and concepts, this is what you should try smile.gif

Keep rocking!

Cosmin

Hi friend, good job with this metal lesson.

Your rhythm metal technique is very aggressive and wild, I like it. It's true what Ben and Cosmin say about your palm muting which could sound more controlled if you want to get a more Thrash sound as I did in the original take. I put my hand a little bit closer to the bridge pick up, to get a Thrasher palm muting sound. Compare both takes and you will notice the difference in sound that I'm talking about.

That's the only detail to mark, your take is very good. Keep on the great job!
