> IS THAT YOUR MAMA?

Nope didn't think so either. We all know parents don't get this.

I can show you how to be the virtuoso your folks could only dream about, but I first need your help:

* Pm me and I will show you where to start. I am online every day and I will help you out directly!

* Join my mentoring program. I will customize your learning experience in a way you haven't experienced before. We will have regular contact so that you can remain inspired every day and eventually reach a new level.

* Join my next video chat! GMC startpage holds a video chat schedule. We always cover a lot of ground and have fun. Remember that you don't need any previous knowledge, and you can be passive in the chat.

* Jam with me - you will find active collabs here.

* Post a topic on this board, guitar related or not - doesn't matter! You will find that chatting with instructors boosts your motivation to practice.

* You haven't missed my latest video lessons, have you?

* Oh and did you know that to become a killer guitarist you just need to focus on one thing? Everything
else is secondary. Pm me and I will explain.

Hey mate biggrin.gif You probably heard about the TV series 'Quantum Leap' - well, that's where I got the inspiration for the thread name biggrin.gif

Well, I am curious to know a bit about your goals and your experience so far before starting out, so that I may know where this thread - which by the way, belongs to you - will be headed smile.gif

Let's rock!

Thank you, Cosmin! : )

I first started playing guitar at the age of five. My mother is a classical guitar teacher, who tought me to play the guitar and shared with me all of the details, such as hand posture, tone quality, etc. At the age of eleven I got interested in rock and heavy metal. That's when I bought my electric guitar (Stagg Stratocaster), which I've been playing on for about seven years already, but it was not until now, that I decided to take things seriously.
I also prefer genres as Blues and Jazz, which is a precondition to improve my improvisation skills. : )
You could check out my videos of Ben's Bushido Tasks here:

Bushido Tasks

Also, I've been playing in a rock group for about 3 months.

Right now I'm struggling to create a convenient system, which would help me to grow as a guitarist.
I have several guitar books (beginner/theory/tech/rock/heavy metal/jazz/blues/funk ans so on) and a few
DVDs of lessons from guitar players like Michael Angelo Batio, but it's very hard for me to sort it all in the right order.
I always take something from here & there and I end up frustrated at the end. biggrin.gif

GMC is an amazing place to improve one's skills, but I still have that tendency to "learn it all" and to watch all the videos
(which I believe is a truely impossible task).

So I'd be glad to work with you and get some great tips on playing & practicing. ^^
I already started the Bushido classes & Todd's Shredding Journey.

Greetings from Silistra!

Dian smile.gif I know who you are smile.gif biggrin.gif

Well, my idea is the following - since you are already involved in a serious number of tasks, I would take you on a different path:

- expression - where we will deal with articulation and interpreting phrases so that you may be able to tell a story with your instrument
- creativity - I will let my imagination go crazy and ask all sorts of weird musical things from you here biggrin.gif
- rhythm - a great lead guitarist has a wide knowledge and mastery of rhythm!

What say you my dear neighbor?

I usually record myself with a camera, which I suppose is unacceptable, because of the poor sound quality.
What software do I need to record myself on my laptop?
I have read, that it isn't very wise to plug in the guitar directly to the laptop with distortion pedals, because
of the powerful signal, that they create.
On the other hand, my sound card isn't that good, so I always hear an annoying lag, while playing through
the laptop.
Any tips on that?

We have two options here - either for the time being until you get your hands on an external soundcard, we use your webcam - no problems, I think that for the tasks here, you can obtain a decent sound, or you could watch this little video here and see if you can make things work like this:

Let me know what you think about this and we can start with the tasks biggrin.gif

Alright, I think I've got it.
I didn't manage to use the ASIO4ALL driver, as it simply doesn't appear on the task bar,
and there's some awful background sound, but I did make a sample recording and
I'm learning how to make a video right now.

Shall we begin? : )

PS: Added some noise gate and it's a bit better now, but I can't play pinch harmonics.
The hum over the solos is still very annoying though.

I finally installed ASIO4ALL, but it doesn't make any difference. The humming's still there.
Any ideas? Or is the only solution an external sound card?

Hey Dian! The best solution out there would be an external sound card - I am not aware of what you could do with the humming though sad.gif If it doesn't provide the best results, you could start a thread in the Gear section and I am sure that Todd for instance - he is a gear head biggrin.gif could help out with this technical sort of stuff.

Now, in the mean time - I would be curious to hear some takes on the following lessons from you, based on what we have discussed before:

For the expression development - I think this one should get you going biggrin.gif

https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/The-Vo...Of-Your-Guitar/

and for some rhythm chops, how about this one?

https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/rhythm-gu...d-rock-rhythm3/

Please tell me if they are too difficult so we may try something else.

Let's rock!

I'll make the videos from my camera for now.
In the meantime, take a look at this. It might me interesting for you:

Hehe! You are a little classical virtuoso biggrin.gif Very nice mate - I had a wonderful experience being present at the classical guitar international olympics held in Sinaia - a mountain resort in Romania. I just went there to watch, as I am no classical player, but I was amazed by what I've seen there smile.gif

Anyway, I just subbed to your channel on Youtube and out of what I'm seeing there, it's gonna be a pleasure to work with you, neighbor!!

Hey, Cosmin! : )

Here's the video of the first task:

The Voice of Your Guitar

I'm kind of busy this week, so I'll have to record the rhythm part next tuesday.
Is it alright?

Also, I recorded the third part of the 'Soundtrack Homework' for the next videochat.

Hey Dian! This is very good - you nailed those quirky bends that everyone misses on this take tongue.gif Well, I think you are on the right path with this one - only small details (some bends and some notes that were very slightly off time) that need a little bit of polishing, but they will come into place, the more you play it smile.gif Looking forward to the V-chat homework and no worries, take your time wink.gif

Hey Dian! It sounded good, but you need to check your guitar as it's a bit out of tune smile.gif

Now, Out of what I've seen, you need to work a bit more on riffing, just because, even though you played correctly from a technical perspective, you still need to work in order to create a groove, so if it's alright with you, I'd like you to have a go at this:

https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Funk-Rhythm-Swing-Feel/

Hope you're not cursing me or something, but I want to push you higher tongue.gif

Cursing? Nope. I adore playing these kind of lessons. : )
Thanks, neighbour. I'm working on it.

PS: An age-old expression states, that if you love what you do,
you never have to go to work again in your entire life.
So, it's not annoying for me to push myself higher.
