It is normal for skin to regenerate. Actually your whole body (except brain) gets replaced after some years. Cells make new ones etc.. The only difference with that hardened skin is that you can actually see how it peals off in chunks instead microscopic leftovers.

Hi everyone.. So, i have been practicing a lot these last couple of months, and of course the left hand fingers have a lot of hard skin (is it called that in english??) Anyways, the hard skin on my fingers are beginning to "fall off".. not all at once, but it's tearing off slowly. I am currently practicing hammer-ons and pull-offs, and pull-offs are very hard to do when the strings get between my fingertip and this hard skin that is somewhat falling off.. I cant rip it off because it will probably tear my whole fingertip off as well, and i need it to play my precious guitar.. I try to remove it a little at a time, but once it's gone, it will come back after 2 days.. it's especially bad after taking showers.. Well.. i cant be the only one having issues like this (i hope), so i was wondering if you guys have any tips, advice or hints to minimize the "flossing" of the fingertips.. Do i dip them in baby oil to keep them "whole", or is this "just the way it's supposed to be"? Hope you can help, -Zion- hi Zion, when you practice very hard or maybe you wet them a lot and play! its just normal, it happens to me when i study very hard also depends on the stringthickness and how much bending you do! i use 011-049 normal tuning and when i do alot of extreme bending this can happen! just wait it out! i never put any oil or anything on my fingers! cheers! mats. -------------------- Get Mats CD´s!
