GMC Forum _ Collaborations _ Master The Mixolydian Scale Video Collab Uploads
Posted by: David Wallimann Sep 1 2009, 06:45 PM
Upload your mp3 for the Mixolydian scale video collab here! Don't upload more than one take as I will be recording your comments as soon as I get your work!
Here's my take, a quick one this collab, just to be part of it, not very good on the mixolydian mode, nor do I like it, not my style, but a musician as to explore as much as possible. I'm sorry I can't work more on my take but I'm going to London tomorrow and I'm afraid of not doing a take until the deadline, if I'm all set I'll try to improve it as much as possible.
Cheers

Thought I'd throw my hat at this, only got time to do one take so totally improvised as ususal!
Excuse the vest! I was hot!

Great job guys!

Okay, here is my take. Kind of rough, couldn't clean up when you are moving up and down. Also, realized kind of out of timing here and there. I am still figuring it out whether its me or the latency issue on my Pro Tools. I am going to do some timing exercise for sure.
This one is my first record off my 'new' Triaxis that just arrived few days ago and I am loving the warmth of it. Hope you like it as well.
Thanks a lot! Comments should be in by the end of next week!

Hi David, I was nearly missing this one, or maybe I did??? Anyway, here is a quick take done in one hour. I guess the AP could be better, but Im working on it right now... :-) Oohh, and its recorded with one of Muris presets in GR3, and my custom Warmouth guitar.

Hehe! You guys crack me up! Recording video comments as we speak. I', just about to start on you enforcer! :-)

Sorry. I'm a day late. I understand if you can't record a comment for late uploads. But I figured I'd give it a shot anyway.
This is also a bit of a rush job. I went away for a week and thought I'd have time to work on this when I got home. Not so... Had about a half hour the day after the deadline .
Thanks David. I really don't mind taking a hit - I was late, after all. I'd hate to have everybody else wait an extra day due to my irresponsibility. And I'd also feel bad if you had to put aside extra time to record my comment. I was hoping I could squeeze in with minimal impact on your workflow. Thanks again!

Although I am rather enthusiastic about my video, personally I can wait another day, as being late is a very human thing and it could happen to anyone...

I can wait, no problem

Would you guys mind waiting another day for the results? I finished all of them, but would like to add one for the Keppler... I hope that's cool!
I passed away yesterday anyway, since they didn't sent any food from the retirement home. So that's cool, David !!!

Actually, if you do a search on Youtube, you guys can find your comments somewhere on there. Not on my regular channel though, I created a new one just for collabs. Search your name! May the hunt begin! Hahaha! :-)

haven't found mine
But I found the channel
EDIT: Thanks for the comment David, really glad you liked it, even though I feel that i've improved it now. That's the reason I'm joining these collabs, to explore what I don't usually use. I didn't join the "Master the Aeolian Mode Collab" because of lack of time, but also because it's the mode i use the most.
Cya till the next collab.

hey send a link for those who has a common nickname like me
Thanks for the comments David, well in the beginning of the video you say: "Lets talk about mixolydian a little bit", when I heard that I was nearly crapping on my pants, as I thought I used another scale or what, and totally messed things up But it wasn't like that at all. Thanks for great comments, I am trying to improve everything as I have time, like that vibrato. I am really happy now that you find it an adequate vibrato, as you know that was the greatest problem of mine, you can remember it from previous collabs of yours, you told me that I should use vibrato (along with Emir he did that too a lot) and I have been developing that vibrato skill since.
I was working on sweeps too, and you liked that one sweep too, so I assume the way I am working on them, and playing them is correct.
So the matter of tidiness of faster licks comes from here I think: I recently achieved that speed, normally those timings are things that used to be unavailable to me, as they are new, they are not perfect yet. But they will be...
About the ideas, man really I don't want this to sound like flattery, but your backings are always whispering melodies on my ears. You do lots of things great, but I must underline your ability to make great backing tracks It's as if they want to be played along with them I wish I had more
So great collab and great comments as always...

Found mine as well! Very nice comments David! And great with video too! I'm glad that You discovered that bebop phrases, since I've been playing a lot of modern jazz in the old days. I couldn't stop myself from playing around the chords instead of "inside" all the time. My friends and I always said that the -7'th chord is God's gift to the musician, since You can play all 12 notes as long as You land on a proper note...
