GMC Forum _ Recording _ Toneport Ux1

http://www.line6.com/recording/electric.html

according to this page, with a toneport UX1, i can record guitar parts using the guitar plugged into toneport, which is plugged into my computer. the headphones are so i can hear what i'm recording, right? and the powered monitors /mixers/amp... how would that work? is a mixer crucial to recording? powered monitors? i'm guessing the amp is if you'd like to use your own tone instead of gearbox's... i'm not very tech-savy on any of this, but i'm trying to learn. can anybody help me?

(i apologize if this has been asked before. i only skimmed the first page to see any topics about this)

You need either the headphones or the monitors. For a serious setup both might be cool. You need to hear your guitar and the backing track - either headphones or speakers etc do that for you. When you mix, its better to do so over speakers than headphones as they behave very differently.
