From Guitar Rig To Mp3 - Avoiding Programs Like Cubase

Apr 15 2009, 07:59 PM	GMC:er Posts: 322 Joined: 11-April 08 From: United Kingdom	I was fiddling with Guitar Rig (2) today, and came up with a cunning way of being able to get a track from Guitar Rig to an MP3. Enable tapedeck one and two in Guitar Rig - these can be found above the main effects window, near the metronome icon. Press the new recording icon on both tape decks When you're reading to record, press record on the second tape deck Save your recording on the second tapedeck as a .wav file Grab a copy of Audacity and the LAME MP3 dll (both free) In Audacity, go to project > import audio, and import the audio from your Guitar Rig .wav Save the project as an MP3, and away you go! Note - if you keep the wave file, you can open it in Guitar Rig at a later date, select a different effect and go through the process again to save it with a different sound, without having to re-record. Apr 16 2009, 12:01 AM	GMC:er Posts: 322 Joined: 11-April 08 From: United Kingdom	The reason for using Audacity was that Guitar Rig doesn't save its .wav files as stanard 44hz wave files, so programs like Audiograbber can't encode them. AFAIK Cubase since V4 allows the use of the Fraunhoefer MP3 encoder but on a limited license - something like 20 or 30 encodings. After that it won't run unless you get a separate license. To get round this Steinberg have included LAME. BTW - the license thing is down to Fraunhoefer labs not Steinberg, most digital sequencers have the same issue and many have switched to LAME or a similar to get round it.
