Tone Settings For String Tapping

well i was doing the first lesson on string tapping but i noticed that when i did the tapping i didn't sound right i cheaked the tuning and that was fine i think it was the tone settings. can you please tell me what the best settings you need to have for the tone to get string tapping to work.

Well when i tap i like to use either just my bridge or just my neck pickup, and i always have mids pretty high 7-9 usually, and treble around the same, and i mess around with my distortion pedal settings. just try various things
