GMC Forum _ Bands and Guitarists _ Buying New Cd's

Posted by: MickeM Sep 13 2009, 03:13 PM

I need some hints here guys, I'm sitting now about to order but I'm all blank.
I'm pretty snowed in on NWOBHM but this time I was thinking about getting some new fresh music. Yesterday I bought the latest Dream Theater and Saxon -In to the labyrinth, quite like they way they evolved through times without losing their fundamental sound.

Please suggest to me bands similar to Evergrey, Pain of Salvation. Sun Caged, Dream Theater, Scar Symmetry
Not too much growling. Progressive. Heavy.

Cheers wink.gif and please add a youtube link is possible.

What about Opeth? Yeah, I know, they are death metal, there is growling, but Michael also sings and they rule anyway wink.gif Or what about the gods of progressive metal: Fates Warning (check out an album called "Awaken the Guardian", best metal album ever released, period!)

I am an Evergrey nut - particularly the Recreation album - love their stuff. An album I really enjoyed not mentioned above in a similar vein is 'Beyond Daylight' by Vanden Plas.

Good choice, you ordered two of my fave albums, Opeth and Alice in Chains wink.gif
