Everything about that guitar is top-notch. It must be a joy to play.

It's the best axe I've ever played. And it's legit It was a case queen for years so it's mint condition. I was shocked. The plastic was still on the back place and jcraft logo on the case. The guy just never played it. It's practically brand new and nearly a decade old. It outplays my RG560 by a mile. I never knew it could be so effortless to play a guitar. I find my other ibbys to be a LOT more work now. This one almost plays itself. No wonder it's such a sought after classic by Ibby nut jobs like me
Todd Everything about that guitar is top-notch. It must be a joy to play. I LOVE the pickups in the blue Ibby. They sounds BIG compared to all my other Ibbys which sound more compressed / 80s. Which is fine because those 25 year old ibbys were designed to sound like that. This blue ibby sounds much more open and wide by comparison. I like the pickups a LOT. I was worried they would not have enough gain but I was wrong I've never used this pickup set before and WOW I was really impressed at how HUGE they sound compared to my older ibbys. Just so much more open and thick. I'm officially a fan of Dimarzios and I though I liked Duncans Both the neck and bridge have ALNICO 5 magnets which is one of my fave mags. I prefer them to ceramic personally. Here is what the ibby wiki says of the Tone zone. The Tone Zone is hot enough to qualify as a high-output pickup, but it has a wider dynamic range — hard picking will produce a lot of power, and softer picking will be much cleaner and quieter. It’s got tremendous bass and low-mid response to reinforce the bottom end and make the overall sound bigger.[39 Your tone sounded very different to me, less 80's type cutting than usually but bigger/beefyer. Specific to this collab. or simply the new guitars influence? also I'm curious on your comments about the pickups as I also use them.

Its been a long time since I've been using that set, some tips; the tonezone is absurdly sensitive to pickup height, you can get more fullyness or scream depending on its height adjustment. I prefer it to have as much "awwe" sound (famous to dimarzio's, sort of wah like responce) when distorted as possible. As for air-norton mine is totally modified now but if you want more speed or singlecoil-like attack to it just flip the pickup. Petrucci prefered this and also you'll see marco sfogli, just keep it low enough so it won't attack too much on clean sounds |
