GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ Free Guitar Amp

Posted by: mba64 Mar 24 2009, 05:06 PM

Go over to Guitar Amp Modeling site to get a real great ampsim free just today only.
This one is great you can get any sound or amp out off this.

March 24th is release date for Guts and Snap. This is the new AcmeBarGig DIY Guitar Amp Modelling software. They are a commercial product but a full FREE registered version will be offered all day March 24th to GAM USERS ONLY. This copy includes all updates throughout the year and reduced pricing when you wish to upgrade.

Hows it work?
Guts allows the user to define an amplifier's charcteristics by setting cut off values and EQ. Through testing we have successfully modelled Hiwatt, Fender, Marshall, Peavey, Big Muff, Boss, etc. So, once you have your model made, you can save it as a Gut File. This file is read by Guts sister software Snap. Snap is a freeware Gut file reader amp that will be available for download all over, will be widely available. The Snap reader then transforms itself into whatever type of Amp that you have created in the Gut file.
Gut files are very small, about 12-1300 bytes. So downloading and sharing them will be very easy over the web.

What is available, cabinets etc.
Gut files can contain definitions for Cabinets, Reverb, Chorus,,Delay, and Noisegate settings. These are all included with Guts. External support is not yet implemented.

Hi guys,

I found an old dry track on my harddrive. So here are some samples. I only used the presets featured in the plugin. No effects added afterwards. Only one guitar track without eq.

 Hi_Gain.mp3 ( 925.12K ) : 149

 Hiwatt_Dis_Rythym.mp3 ( 925.12K ) : 132

 Jaca__s_Amp.mp3 ( 925.12K ) : 132

 Driven_JCM.mp3 ( 925.12K ) : 136

 Black_Album.mp3 ( 925.12K ) : 149

In my opinion it is no match to Revalver II but sounds better than GR3 to me.
I do not really like the high gain sounds to much. They sound very 'modelled'
A speaker impulse support would be great. This plugin has definetly some potential, but without impulse support I won't use it. To be fair with this plugin I have to say that I did test it only for about 5 minutes. I am sure experts can get quite awesome sounds.
Perhaps they should make it open source it would give the project a boost

EDIT: I JUST FOUND IT OUT! smile.gif

I just installed the attached file and try to figure out how it works. Until now I have no success. huh.gif When I open the folder "AcmeBarGig" there are only a folder (which contains GutFiles), 2 PDF-Documents and a RTF-data.
What now?
