I have seen kids at the age of like 5 or so who have great talent for their age.

Hi Kizaze
IMO,just don't push them but show them what music and instrument are. Let they choose for them self. And also,it's never too early or too late IMO,as long passion and motivation are there. Wish you much luck and joy in music quest of your kids tho!! -------------------- Youtube

I don't think there is any such thing as too young to start playing; I also wouldn't be worried if your son loses interest. I started playing when I was around 11, played for a few years then lost interest when I was around 18 or so. I just started playing again a while ago, and I was very surprised at how quickly I picked up where I left off...15 YEARS AGO! Now I'm enjoying playing more than ever, and I am very glad that I had my first exposure to the guitar when I was younger. This is really nice story. So,you're now about 33 right? I'm 28 and can't tell from my own experience but I believe you're much wiser and smarter now then before and music has bigger meaning to you at this moment. -------------------- Youtube

QUOTE Thanks for the advice. I think I'll give it a shot. But what the heck to I teach first to an 8 year old?? start with the E chord? then the A chord then D etc. eventually he should be able to play along to basic songs. when i started learning i got a guitar book (cant remember the name). it had basic chord diagrams and was really fun. just look for begginers guitar books that you think would be fun for an 8 year old. -------------------- Guitars: Epiphone Les Paul Standard w/ Dual EMG 81 Pickups. Thanks for the advice. I think I'll give it a shot. But what the heck to I teach first to an 8 year old?? Well, few basic chords, some easier tunes. It'd be nice start I believe. -------------------- Youtube

Wish you much luck and joy in music quest of your kids tho!! +1 Couldn't agree more. If they are interested and think it's fun, let them play no matter the age. You see kids singing and dancing as soon as they learn to express themselves. And I see no reason to stop them... other than when there's something on the TV that dad wants to watch -------------------- My bands homepage

I picked it up for my son who's 5. He likes it but he'll get more out of it once he can read a little bit better. -------------------- Guitars - Schecter C1-FR Hellraiser Black Cherry
