GMC Forum _ Gabriel Leopardi _ Mroberts70's Thread

Posted by: Gabriel Leopardi Jan 27 2013, 09:11 PM

Hi Rob tongue.gif !! Welcome to your Gab's Army thread!!

Could you please tell me a bit about you, your musical tastes, influences, strengths and weaknesses? I would need some videos of you playing rhythm and solo guitar, so please post your best material here. If you have some music or ideas of your own, also post them here. Also let me know how you think that I can help you and what are your expectations for our job. You can check the other Army's thread to discover the different modalities of this project.

The principles of our Army are:

+ Improve your technique
+ Make music and solos
+ Have fun
+ Destroy the enemy (hahaha not really just kidding... )

Here is my take for the AC/DC Riffs and Licks Lesson. This is actually an inspired by take, it is not a note for note take as you probably won't see me do too many of those on here. I like the inspired by version better. smile.gif I tried to apply the basic idea with bends and vibrato to my own take. I think I may redo one though, trying to decide if there is a bit of lag in this or not..? Anyhow....

Ok, LAG FIXED.... mad.gif

I also gave the rhythm more balls, and tamed the crunch down on the lead a bit.

Hey mate! This is a rocker take! I like to find an "inspired" version of the original lesson. It adds an interesting plus into your diary practice. The only thing that I noticed in your take is that many bends are note perfectly on pitch... do you notice it?

Maybe I didn't have my tone deaf hearing aid tuned in all the way.... hmm I did maybe in a few spots, although I did manage to do something to the ligament in my left hand and while grabbing the neck as I usually do with my thumb for the bends, I couldn't quite do that.. so maybe that was throwing it off as I was trying to compensate in a way different from usual.....or I am truly tone deaf and didn't know it. ??? Either way there is no excuse for poor playing, so I'll go back and revisit that to see if I can get them to pitch.

Great! Check out this video by Satriani where he shows really cool exercises and the first one is for bending!

What other lessons are you working?

Here's another try on the AC/DC Lesson.

Hi mate! This new take is better! Well done. I still hear some bends that are a bit out of pitch, for example at 00:45/47. Do you notice it?

Improvising in E minor... the mistakes are part of my proprietary guitarded skillz! LOL! Oh, and there is a bit of whammy in here as well... duh. laugh.gif

The great guitarist Mroberts rocking the house as he uses to do it every Friday at the chatroom! Nice improvisation mate, it's very cool to hear. Both your phrases and your guitar tone are very enjoyable. I think that it's time to start working on themes and create some instrumental songs. Maybe an Ep could be coming... smile.gif

LOL... thanks for the boost Gab. Just working on my phrasing via the good ol backing tracks. Maybe I can be as eclectic as Buckethead.... now if I could just play like him. laugh.gif

Here I am working on some Blues Phrasing in E. Trying to sort out my (Play by Ear) technique... since that's the only one I know. smile.gif

Good impro mate! It sounds cool over the backing. I'm not very sure about the tone, it's a bit trebbly, don't you think so?
Are you practising for today's Vchat?? smile.gif

Thanks Gab, yea the tone is different. It's not my usual setup. I was trying out some settings with this Pandora like you said your brother has. I haven't quite gotten it dialed in yet.

I'm going to try to make the vchat for sure... I was bummed that I missed last weeks. That's the only time I get to play interactively with anyone these days.

I need to see what the vchat is for today... I haven't seen your notes to know what's going on yet. I'd like to see if I can find us a backing track to use. smile.gif

yeah, I enjoy a lot our jams at Vchat. Last one has been really cool, thanks for those amazing backing tracks that you provided. The last one in Phrygian mode was very cool. smile.gif

Hi mate, nice jams. This made me miss our Vchat jams! It's been a while!

I think that your playing in both backings is very musical and that the only thing lacking to convert this jams in songs is adding some variations in the progressions of the backing tracks. It would be cool if you start to create your own backings with a more song structure. That would be amazing, what do you think?

Thanks Gab, yes it has been awhile for sure. Actually the first "rough draft" besides the drum machine as I had no other option at the time is all of my doing. I am going to try to develope an entire "song" if you will performing all parts except the drum piece. I am going to try to get that done by the young drummer who's video I posted in another thread. This should be a slow process.... smile.gif

I just saw the "rap" thread! I really like the track man! You should continue working on this project.

HAHA! That song belongs to someone else. I think he did it a long time ago for a joke, I'm not sure he would even have any interest in doing any more with it honestly. It's fun to put guitar tracks to though... smile.gif
