Hi Tony...did you work with melodyne...can U tell us how does he behave...thx...and is it all as this clip say...easy and hte quality of sound stays the same.. smile.gif

At the moment I use Celemony's Melodyne Studio - mainly for radio production stuff. I've found it to be a great program - pitch and formant changing an audio is great for building effects and atmosphere for radio transmissions. It's a pretty easy program to use - despite the technology involved - but I did find the manual a slog. TBH I stopped reading the manual after 20 or so pages and just played with the software and learnt how to use it by doing. To date the only issue I've had is getting the stand alone (rather then the plug-in) to function properly as a slave via rewire with some hosts. It's not however an issue for me as I'm quite happy to use the plug-in if I need real time manipulation or run Studio at a later date if not.

One suggestion I would have though- it's worth checking out Antares' Auto Tune as a possible alternative.

Cheers,
Tony

The real use for this technology, is for musicians to cut down on edit time and allow creativity to drive them rather then having to worry about a million technical things.

Imo anything that can cut down time spent playing in my DAW to really playing and writing is a Godsend. And i don't think this will replace professional musicianship. Cause even if you can reproduce the perfect song, can you go out and play it? Thats the real question.

Heck i really think that people who got good programming this stuff could create guitar phrases that are for the most part impossible to play on a single instrument.

Just a quick heads up for those interested and who may not have received the news from Celemony...

The DNA stand alone plug-in is scheduled to be unveiled at NAMM in mid Jan. Beta testing (for us on the list) is scheduled to commence in March with a full launch soon after.

Cheers,
Tony

ps DNA was delayed as Celemony decided to start from the ground up rather then just recode Melodyne.

Wow that looks amazing. Does it mean that you could easily pluck out any instrument from a recording?

As far as I'm aware at the moment - not really. DNA will work on polyphonic material - if you had two instruments on one track it can correct notes from each instrument, whether they are single notes or part of a chord, but I don't think it can separate out the different instruments from a single track in to their original form ie it can't unrender a multi-instrumental recording.

Exactly what it can do - well I need to wait for the beta to say smile.gif . Studio surprised me when it first came along and was far more capable then I thought it would be. Fingers crossed DNA should be awesome biggrin.gif .

Cheers,
Tony
