GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ My New Guitar

Posted by: Strungout180 Jul 31 2008, 07:16 PM

Well its been a little while since I had given in to GAS, so when an offer from a local forum member at another guitar site I'm part of PM'd me about him selling his Stratocaster I decided to meet up with him and give it a try. A few hours later after a long test period and a blues jam session I walked away with a new guitar.

Specs on it are:

Robert Cray Standard Stratocaster
3 Colour sunburst finish
'61 “C” Shape with a nice subtle flame to the maple
9.5" radius
21 Medium Jumbo Frets
3 Custom Vintage Strat® Single-Coil Pickups
American Vintage Strat Strings-Through-Body Hardtail Bridge

Awesome. Strats are so fun.

Nice find dude, i really love the finish on this guitar!

Its not over the top like some strats, and i love the distressed look on the neck and headstock

Happy for you man!

Out of curiousity, why didn't you go for the strat's dive tremolo?

I never use the tremolo on my other strat, and prefer the increased sustain that the hardtail gives this one. Plus the offer that he gave me was generally too good to pass up.

The price was a border line steal. The guitar was purchased new a month and a half ago for 700, and I paid 380 including a nice fender gig bag.

I couldn't agree more. I absolutely love my Les Paul but the feel of my Strats just fit me more.

The funny thing is...I got my strat on a whim. I traded a guy a bicycle for it, and didn't really think too much about it. As it turns out...I play the strat a LOT more than I play the Ibanez that was my crown jewel guitar purchase! The strat just "feels" so perfectly natural to play.
