GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Coolest Gmc Student Yt Videos
Posted by: Kristofer Dahl Nov 11 2009, 05:34 PM
As some of you know - we are closing in on the installment of the new GMC design. Among other things - the new design will give us better possibilities of showcasing all our skilled students. So my question is...
Which youtube videos (uploaded and recorded by GMC members) do you think are the coolest ones? Any video qualifies - REC take, original song etc - as long as it's done by a GMC member.
If you give us your suggestions here (don't forget to include a youtube link) - we will make an editorial pick and feature some of the coolest ones on the main page when we go live with the new design!

Kris, Are videos of covers allowed (covers that are not lessons at GMC)?
Anyways, I nominate this amazing REC take by Sollesnes..

Link to my Youtube account is in my signature, although I don't think I have any really cool videos, if I had to type one that is better than the rest it would be this one:
What came to my mind the most when I read the topic was Chris take on Gabes Iron Maiden collab, and Staffy blues video.

Aw come on guys, the point of this thread is to say which video you think is coolest, not share your own videos. Posting your own videos beats the point of the thread, and noone will nominate a video that already exist in the thread.

Yeah I agree. I stopped looking at this thread because it all seems like "Self Promotion."

Hey guys this is me playing........... (hell no )
The thread is about coolest not every video done by GMC members.
Posted by: -Zion- Nov 18 2009, 02:02 PM
well.. some members may have videos posted that they are really proud of.. Videos that other members may not have seen and hence cannot "nominate", so i have no problems with it..
I think it's great that members here are promoting themselves.. It gives me a chance to see a lot of over-the-top-talent there is here at GMC.. Man, there's a lot of talent (and hard work) here.. excellent..
i'll just blatantly promote myself as well.. haha..

Me too! Take a look at him at :27 and :33, looks like someone is getting ready to come in the room and he politely gives that look to "hold on a minute" and still keeps rocking! Cool!

I made this mistake of getting my face on camera the other day when I posted a REC video. My mom, who subscribes to my YouTube channel, saw the video and immediately called my wife wanting to know why I looked to bad.
My wife said that I always look like that.

I apparently grimace before bending strings. I feel like it's in concentration but I suspect it's also done in expectation of pain as well. My wife and mother both remarked on it: "It's cute the way your mouth moves on some of those notes."
I started wondering if this isn't the reason behind the "war face" that players make (Vai's comes to mind) intentionally. What if the whole purpose is to control the expression to prevent some other expression from being made?
