Hi guys!

For those of you who don't know me, I'm in charge of the web development team for GMC. Kristofer has just spent two days here with us at The Farm (the company which does most of the tech work here at GMC), working with the finishing touches for the new site design! Kristofer is now on his way home, and asked me to post the following message for all of you smile.gif

Here goes, straight from Kristofer:

As you have probably noticed we have launched the new design today.

The development team will be alert to fix possible bugs - and we are grateful if you report anything you might find. The coming weeks' development work will be devoted to fixing remaining flaws and bugs.

Some of the new features such as the video chat statistics in the header involve third party services - and will therefore not work right now (but we are working on them in this very moment).

We have also done some improvements to GMC back bone scripts and software - one example of this is that you no longer need two different usernames/password for the videos and forum. These background improvements will allow us to develop very cool features in the future.

If you check out the start page you will find some cool new stuff under featured content! Some extra credits: Thank you Fran for your wiki work and Marcus Lavendell for the Lesson Oldies video medley.

Today it's my turn to announce a new feature here at GMC biggrin.gif

From now on, all Practice Agenda entries will be posted on the frontpage along with the latest forum topics. This way, those of you who are using the agendas will get a bit more notice. Nice, huh? cool.gif

Now keep those Practice Agenda entries coming!

Hi guys,

Some great news that will make it easier for our community members to take part in the comments and discussions surrounding the blog! Now, if you go to a blog post (the latest one by Kris, for example - listen to the finished song, it's a great one!) and go all the way down to make a comment, you no longer have to enter your name, email etc, to make a comment. You are recogniced as a forum user instead. Also, you no longer have to wait for the comment to be "approved", it's published right away! The system automatically detects that you are logged into the forum and you are deemed worthy to be trusted wink.gif

There will, eventually, be links to your forum profiles from the blog posts as well.

So, let's start commenting on those blogs, shall we? biggrin.gif

In a comment to my blog post, RobM suggests that I get a metronome. Is this something that I, as a complete beginner, should get right away to do things "right" from the start? If so, any suggestions on what to get?

So, I got a comment to my blog post, suggesting that I get a tuner. I've read the guitar tuning thread but I still have some questions.

First: How does a tuner actually work? I mean, how do I use it?? As I've never seen or used one, I only get half the picture from that thread. Perhaps we should have a "tuning video" here on GMC? smile.gif

Second: Is it hard to do? Do I risk screwing up? Any specific tips for a beginner?

And lastly: Any suggestions for an affordable tuner? Korg CA-30 was suggested in the thread above, any comments on that?

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me smile.gif
