ok well i think it would be a good idea to start off by listing the following so we can kinda see where we all are

i know im not the leader, but id like to know everyones playing style, favorite style of music, instruments they could possibly use to help record, and what you would like to get out of this band...that way...we can find something we all agree on and get it going!

so ill start:

I started off playing Metal (like most here on the forum) but i enjoy playing jazz, funk, R&B, and instrumental stuff...i like to stay very versatile...so id be fine doing what ever you guys would like to do

my favorite styles of music are Progressive rock/metal, and jazzz

unfortunately i am a one trick pony, i only play guitar at the moment smile.gif i do have cubase, but i have not downloaded any vst plugins such as drum kits and what not...so i guess you can rely on me for guitar only for now

I hope to make new friends here of course, and i really want to expand my versatility

I also thought i should mention that i do have a big guitar pro file with a lot of original riffs and progressions ive come up with over the past few months so id happily contribute that to the band

i look forward to hear from you guys and start this up!

Yo,

I've been playing from the age of 8, but got serious about this about 17 and started practicing properly for the last 2 years. Doing solid 4 hours a day metronome work, 6 days a week at the moment. Only able to play guitar, as this is the instrument I'm focusing on.

Favourite players are the likes of hendrix, eric johnson, paul gilbert etc.

I enjoy playing any style, which is why I'm here. I'm very into jazz fusion and shred at the moment, working on my alternate, legato and sweep picking.

Would like to maybe do something creative, like us writing a song and coming up with a cool guitar solo for it, but I'm open to do anything really as it'll all help build my playing skills.

I'm a professional studio engineer and audio specialist so I have done quite a lot of recording before. My home setup is a little basic as I have studio facilities at work, and just got more basic over the weekend as the PSU in my computer burnt out, but hopefully will have it running again soon, should at least be able to record a guitar part over a backing. The only software I have at home is free software such as reaper.

Well I play mostly rock and metal but I do play other styles as well. I like to listen to all styles except indie and hip hop. I am quite happy with most styles though for playing and listening to.

I have Reaper, Acoustica Beatcraft, and Fruity Loops for recording. I also play a bit of keyboard though I am no master and it is quite hard to record as I have to carry it up a flight of stairs, so I would prefer to keep all non guitar stuff on the computer, but I will play the keyboard if necessary. smile.gif

I think we should start with a cover but if everyone thinks there up to it I'm quite happy to do an original. Perhaps we could all meet up in the chat sometime to discuss what we want to do?

Yello!

I've been playing acoustic for some years, but I noticed that that part of my "career" was pretty... Bad... So I feel that I started over again on the basics when I got my first electric for christmas a year ago ^^

I play mostly metal, but I like all genres of guitar playing. So I'm up for anything, really.
Also, I'm playing around with FL Studio a lot, so I guess I could help with backing tracks if no one else are more experienced. I'm recording guitars with Reaper.

I've recently hurt my hand, though... It's been improving, but slowly.. And I shouldn't use it a lot. Since we've got a month to create something I'm sure it'll have healed and I'll have contributed my part smile.gif

seems like we all are mostly rock/metal so that would probably be the best place to start...maybe do a metaly fusiony thing?

Hey guys,

I have talked with Outlaw (John) and he would like to get involved with the band. Matt, you had said earlier that since you were picked twice and if John wanted to step in as band leader then you were fine with it. He has expressed interest in doing so.

I see that so far you guys have agreed on a metal/rock band and believe me, John is all metal and I think you guys will enjoy working together. So that being said....Is this cool with you?

I picked an additional member (Marc_Maiden) And would like for you to stay in as well. smile.gif

I think that's fine Skenny. Just to clarify would the band be like it is now but with Outlaw in it?

And yes Marc I think we should start off with a Rock/Metal type thing. What does everyone think about doing a cover or an original?

Yes Matt, we'll leave all you guys in together. Would you have a problem with him leading the band?

Matt had some Black Sabbath suggestions to get us going in the chat earlier, like Crazy Train? And Bogdan suggested Paranoid, if I remember correctly?

Hey whats up?

Im john aka outlaw2112 and im looking forward to being apart of this vb. I was thinking about doing a cover first.. Just so everyone can see how this thing is gonna happen.

How about a metallica song to start with? Something like battery that has a clean start and then some heavy fast riffs..

I was thinking metallica cause they have 2 guitars and old metallica rocks

Also what does everyone play?

Drums, bass, or anyone sing? I know everyone plays guitar

I think maybe something easier than old school metallica would be good for a first one but if everyone thinks they're up for it I'm quite happy with that. Like Canis says I think Black Sabbath stuff could be cool. smile.gif My only other suggestion is Cemetery Gates by Pantera.

I'll try my hand at playing pretty much anything, so I'm easy on a cover or original. Something I like doing is taking covers and then doing my own versions, like doing johnny b goode in a metal style with shred solos etc. which might be quite fun as 6 people should be able to come up with some interesting ideas.

Im down for whatever, but this is the intermediate band not the beginner... If some song comes up that is hard for you to get down then practice it... This also can be a learning experience to get better, and thats why we are all here is to get better... but everyone list 2 songs they want to do and ill post a poll to vote on them...

Fair enough, I put down Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne and Cemetery Gates by Pantera. smile.gif
