Hi Etienne!! Welcome to your http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=43110&st=20 thread!!

Could you please tell me a bit about you, your musical tastes, influences, strengths and weaknesses? I would need some videos of you playing rhythm and solo guitar, so please post your best material here. If you have some music or ideas of your own, also post them here. Also let me know how you think that I can help you and what are your expectations for our job. You can check the other Army's thread to discover the different modalities of this project.

Hi Etienne! Nice video!! It really helps me to know your playing. I think that you get a good tone thanks to your picking strength. I notice that your hands are a bit slow, so we have to work on training exercises for both hands. Another thing that needs some improvement is your vibrato technique. I also noted that you play everything with your thumb behind the neck, I mean that you never put your thumb over the neck. I prefer use both ways, depending on what I'm playing. If I play something that requires speed or big stretches, I use your way, but If I'm playing something more rocker, with bends and wide vibrato, I prefer putting the thumb over the neck.

Let's start with this lessons:

Hi mate! Welcome back! smile.gif

Ok, let's continue our work here. What things are you planning to work? Which topics?

Posted by: Etienne Jan 26 2014, 02:48 PM

Same thing's as before, shred...
My fingers is not faster and i don't
know scales. I want to be be more faster on my neck
and know were to go on my neck when i have to improvise
solo... Or anything you think i should know...

Posted by: Gabriel Leopardi Jan 26 2014, 03:59 PM

Great, could you tell me which are your favourite guitarists and bands? and how many time per day can you dedicate to guitar playing?

Posted by: Etienne Jan 26 2014, 04:20 PM

I love Bullet for my valentine, Avenged Sevenfold, All that remains and stuff like that. But i like classic rock, punk rock, Alternative...I love many style, for the guitarist i don't have a "hero" who inspire me... And arond 1 hour per day

Posted by: Gabriel Leopardi Jan 26 2014, 07:55 PM

Ok, let's start designing a "one hour" guitar session to be worked every day. The topics that I would cover are:

Warming up (5 minutes)

Alternate Picking (15 minutes)

Legato (15 minutes)

Advanced / Combined techniques (15 minutes)

Feeling / Expression (dynamics, vibrato, bending) (15 minutes)

What do you think? Do you have some favorited GMC lessons for this topics?

Hi mate! Very good job with this lessons! I can notice that you have been working VERY hard! The three lessons still need days of practice but you've learnt them well. I think that it's just a matter of days to incorporate the tunes and feel more comfortable with them.
I also think that we are ready for new lessons... what techniques would you like to continue working or add?

Posted by: Etienne Mar 4 2014, 07:23 PM

Hey thank's for your comments. But i realize that i can 't pratice each days with my 2 bands. But i play guitar each days. For what i want to learn i'm not fixed so shoot me what you think and if it's not what i want i tell you. If i need your help for creating solo's with my band are you agree to help me??? So gives me anything to learn. I need to increase my speed and all the techniques are useful to know so... you're the boss!!!

Thank's

yes, it's a lot of work. I recommend you to add just one lesson per time to your routine. Don't work on every new lesson at the same time. Keep the older ones and start slowly with one of the new ones.

Posted by: Gabriel Leopardi Mar 27 2014, 02:21 PM

yeah! it can be boring if you don' t apply it directly into your music. It's not important to learn a lot by once, you can learn slowly and apply it. That's the best way to do it.

At first, it would be important that you can find the notes on your fret board. Give a try to this thread and exercises and let me know if you already know it.

It's only a beginning but it give you an idea. And i want a solo in the beginning but i have no idea or inspiration or where to go it's in standard tuning and it's A and G. Tell me what you think

I've just heard the track. Where would you like to record the solo (between which seconds)?

That's tricky! I think that the best would be to think on some good melodies to play over it. The first step would be to start jamming a bit over it. We have two chords there: Am and G played as a loop. The scale that works there is A minor.

Why don't you record some improvisations over it and share them here?

Posted by: Etienne Apr 24 2014, 06:18 PM

Ok thanks i will check A minor and jam a little bit

How do you choose that the A minor is the one??? And do you have stuff in A minor??

QUOTE (Etienne @ Apr 26 2014, 10:06 PM) *

The two bass notes that appear there are A and G. I could play along with this bass notes playing power chords, but if I want to play triads, the two chords that work there are Am and G, this are the ones that sound better, and the main reason is the vocal melody that appears in the first seconds which sings 3 notes from A minor scale (C - B - A). Then when the song starts, the overall tonality is clearly A minor.

There are many theory concepts that you should study to be able to learn the tonality of a song and the scales that can be used. We can start working on this things if you want.

Stuff in A minor?

Hi mate, A minor and A Aeolian are the same scale. Aeolian term is used when it's seen as a 6th mode from the Major scale but it's basically the same scale and you can use both names to refer to it.

Let's start working on this thread's exercises and concepts: http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=49841

Hi Etienne! Nice to know it! Are you working on other musical things that doesn't involve your arm?

Hey Gab's i'm ready to restart slowly so one lesson at time.
You are free to choose what you want.
I'm happy to play again

Posted by: Gabriel Leopardi Aug 25 2014, 02:13 PM

Hi Etienne! How are you? It's great to know that you are feeling good now! I think that you should start slowly with technique, and off course do the massages, stretches and warming up before each routine. (http://youtu.be/1XsLRQFV7rY)

What about the last routine that I gave you, could you work on it? It was set 20 days before you had to stop playing. Are you already familiar with the exercises?

I also think that we should start to dedicate some minutes to scale work, but off putting music in the first place. We will dedicate time to making music with scales. What do you think? Are you in?

Posted by: Etienne Aug 26 2014, 01:55 PM

I'm in for scale work but gave me some backing track to improvise and a key in particual cause i already try scales and i stop it cause it's boring for me. I know it's important but i can't do it for a long time. And i did nothing to the last routine so you can gave me the one you want.

Hello Etienne! Thanks for sharing the video!! I can notice that your playing is evolving very well. Your alternate picking technique is becoming tight and clear. This lesson is excellent to train this so I recommend you to continue playing this one every day to start feeling more comfortable with both hands playing this passages.

Some things to have in mind while you practice:

- You tend to lose a bit the timing when you have to move to different parts of the neck, when a new section starts.
- The arpeggios in the middle section are not sounding very clear, isolate them and practice the licks as a loop.
- Your vibrato technique is a bit weak. I know that it's not the main thing on this lesson but it's good to pay attention and work on it too.
- Your guitar sound a bit out of tune, maybe the third or second string are a bit off so check it out.
- Your trills need some more work, they are not clear, some notes don't sound and the timing is not regular.

Ok friend, I hope that this comments help. Let me know if you have any question or if you need some extra lessons to work on this details.

Keep on rocking. wink.gif

I don't have full time but one lesson at a time. So let's go
Choose one or two an i focus just on one lesson.

I don't change my goal to be a solo guitar player but life is life...

Ya rock and roll

Hi mate! Welcome back! Great to see you here again.

I think that it would be interesting if you work on http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=54900 and one lesson that is at your level and that motivates you to practice. Do you have any one in mind? I've suggested some on this thread.
