GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ Is this amp for me?

Posted by: Rob_g Apr 27 2006, 01:05 AM

I've been looking for a tube amp for a while now and I was wondering if this amp is my style

heres the amp:

Its a Kustom coupe 72, and I love the vintage looks.

But my playing style is Classic rock, Metal, and a little bit of blues. I'm usually playing stuff like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Ozzy, acdc, gnr, and some softer stuff like george thorogood etc.

This looks like a blues amp to me, but just wondering if I should go for that or maybe a peavey valve king 212.
If I changed the speakers in the Kustom would it be the perfect amp for me?

Don't know much about kustom amps but it looks like you will get a lot of volume out of it! smile.gif Does anyone else know something about the amp?

In my experience Kustom are more like beginners amps, but i could be wrong.

i don't have any experience with that amp, but i highly recommend the Marshall DSL401, i really like mine and does all that kind of stuff great

it has more gain than your typical marshall, so playing metal is an option, though its voiced more for an ACDCish type sound than a chugga chugga metal type tone

I'm going to have to try out that dsl401. (you do recommened it a lot so that amp must be pretty awsome.)

How about the Peavey valve king 212 awsome tube combo for a price I like. Its got some great reviews and it would suite my playing style.

well, you've probably heard some of my recordings, and thats basically how it sounds...i mostly post lead stuff on here though

i've never tried the VK, but i've heard a bit of mixed things about them....but more good things than bad

try it out, and see how you like it smile.gif
