Hey guys! I always discover new music from my city. Today I'd like to share a not very known band from the 70's that I've discovered today and that surprised me... they were so Purple, Zeppelin...

and off course, one of the first bands by our guitar hero Pappo:

This post is an excuse to invite YOU to share some great music (old or new) from your city. smile.gif

In my high school and college days I spent a ton of time going to shows around Richmond, VA and Washington DC. There are an absurd number of great bands to come out of those places. So I don't just blow this thread up with Youtube videos, I'll just list a few that you ought to check out:

DC Classics:
Minor Threat
Rites of Spring
Bad Brains
Jawbox
Fugazi
Nation of Ulysses
Frodus

DC Current:
Darkest Hour
Dead Meadow
Animals as Leaders

Richmond, VA:
Lamb of God
Gwar
Alabama Thunderpussy

That's a lot of great stuff! I know many of those bands! Recently I was getting into Animals as Leaders. I've tried in the past many times and never get attracted. This time I've started with the album Joy of motion and I'm enjoying it.

Gab, that band 'Plus' sound great, some great riffage biggrin.gif

I recently found this band from the 70's, not quite my hometown but only 20 minutes away from it.... close enough wink.gif They used to open for bands like Fleetwood Mac and Nazareth back in the day.

Yeah! Plus riffs are awesome! The singer had some moments with pitch issues, but well, those weren't autotune days! laugh.gif

It's curious to hear that band that you've shared! Since I could related them to Plus and some other bands from those same years here.

I like it.

Check out these ones!

About the first ones... I really recommend every rock lover check out this artist: Luis Alberto Spinetta. He is a local hero who recorded many albums with many bands in many styles.... always with his unique style.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luis_Alberto_Spinetta

"Luis Alberto "El Flaco" Spinetta (23 January 1950 – 8 February 2012), commonly known as El Flaco (Skinny) was an Argentine singer, guitarist, composer and poet. One of the most influential rock musicians of South America, together with Charly García he is considered the father of Argentine rock. Born in Buenos Aires in the residential neighbourhood of Belgrano, he was the founder of iconic rock bands including Almendra, Pescado Rabioso, Invisible, Spinetta Jade, and Spinetta y los Socios del Desierto.

Contrasting with the backwards and authoritarian government of General Juan Carlos Onganía, Buenos Aires was undergoing a cultural blossoming based on new art expressions; the new generation, among sons of the middle class, were immersed in an effervescence that would not reappear in Argentina until 1983. Spinetta devoted himself fully to his own music. In his lyrics, there are influences of multiple writers, poets and artists like Arthur Rimbaud, Vincent van Gogh, Carl Jung, Sigmund Freud, Friedrich Nietzsche, Michel Foucault, Gilles Deleuze, Carlos Castaneda and Antonin Artaud, who has his name in the album Artaud.[2]"

Local boys SEVENDUST are among my fave local acts. Apart from Bands that I've been in of course smile.gif

Then of course there was the vastly under appreciated CAUSTIC THOUGHT featuring future members of ATHEIST and GNOSTIC (Bass Player, Lead Guitar, Singer for GNOSTIC and Bass Guitar for Atheist)

Sevendust are hitting the road to do a 20th anniversary tour playing their first album in it's entirety. Everybody loves the old stuff smile.gif

My favourite Scottish band is The Almighty

Ricky has been singing with what is left of the Thin Lizzy line up in recent years

A couple guys in Galway have been recording and releasing singles lately
I heard this pop/Rock track on the radio the other month

Nice songs Posterboy. I've hear the name "The Almighty" in the past but never heard their music. I think that they didn't reach South American audience. They sound like 80's Hard Rock with punk and some more modern vibes. Are they from those years?

I'll have to give you some metal from my birth city, and it was maybe the first metal band I heard live, it was back in 97/98
