Been playing off and on for almost 16 years (I'm 32) and never really took the time to work on some of the fundamentals. I've been on a 4 year hiatus from the guitar (I could blame work and kids, but really i'm sure it has more to do with my own lack of ambition) and have decided that it is time to go back to basics. The last couple of months I have enrolled in some college courses and it has really gotten me into the learning mind frame. I was amazed by some of the teachers here. There are some pretty big names here. I've been a fan of Blind Guardian and Nevermore for quite some time, to see Marcus and Attila (though I'm more familiar with Jeff Loomis, Attila sounds pretty spot on) teaching here was quite a pleasure.

Looking forward to learning a lot from GMC over the following months.

Thanks,
Eric

You aren't the only one in that boat.

Welcome

I was more of the strummy finger picker singer for many years, and shied away from anything technical thinking I didn't have it in me.

What I didn't have was the discipline and motivation to put the practice in that was needed.

I'm here now, knowing there are no short cuts etc just good guidance and woodshedding are needed.
