Varying Levels Of Song And Solo Difficulty Options

I have had an idea to try and get myself playing the guitar again. If people could help me out with this it'd be great and I think it would help others to. I'd like to create two lists split into 10 sections with slowly building difficulty of songs to learn. So say this:

List 1: Rhythm Guitar

Very Easy
Difficulty 1: Nirvana - Come As You Are, Deep Purple - Smoke On The Water
Difficulty 2:

Easy
Difficulty 3:
Difficulty 4:

Intermediate
Difficulty 5:
Difficulty 6:

Hard
Difficulty 7:
Difficulty 8:

Very Hard
Difficulty 9:
Difficulty 10:

List 2: Lead Guitar

Very Easy
Difficulty 1: Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
Difficulty 2:

Easy
Difficulty 3:
Difficulty 4:

Intermediate
Difficulty 5:
Difficulty 6: Dire Straits - Sultans Of Swing

Hard
Difficulty 7:
Difficulty 8:

Very Hard
Difficulty 9:
Difficulty 10: Cacophony - Speed Metal Symphony

If you could help fill in with songs at differing difficulties then that would help me greatly

Great idea, I think if we all make these for ourselves it could do a lot of good.

Music is a subjective thing though, so maybe you should tell us what kind of bands you want to learn songs from? No point in me giving you song by bands you don't like, because we all know that we tend to loose interest very quickly when trying to learn a song we don't like that much.

It is indeed a lot subjective, and of course everyone would look into songs of interest.

For instance, I would not classify Sultans of swing as intermediate (at least the second solo). At least for me it was the hell hard
Also, there are different challenges in each kind of solo. Take "like a stone" from Audioslave. The solo is slow and straightforward (in terms of technique difficulty 3, maybe). But simply I never saw a good cover of this solo played alive. Simply because getting the proper tones and effect is not that easy.

I mean it to just be vague on the whole but useful. As in a scale that makes sense. So obviously sultans of swing is harder than smells like teen spirit to play. And Sultans Of Swing is easier than Racer X solos for instance. That is easy to say. I know different people have different strengths but you can get quite a good scaled list. I just want to learn songs that will improve me and I know if I say get the level 2 solo nailed then I've progressed above level 1. It's a way to guage progress and be happy with your progression.

I like all music genres also and I want to learn guitar so I'd practice songs that aren't my favs for technique.

If you want to push yourself hard on the solo side of music,try learning some instrumentals

Vinnie Moore and Tony Macalpine are two musicians with a few great CDs,and lots of Powertab

Sure there may be some realy hard sections,but learning a few tunes by these two will greatly increase
your neoclassical chops.There also very melodic,thats aways a good thing
