I've just recorded a new cover.
Do you have any suggesion?
This is one of my all time favorite songs to cover. I have learned and forgotten many songs , but this one (and a few others) seems to stay with me over the years. Sounds pretty good Deleted. If you were going for a note for note approach, a few of the phrases need some work.
Overall this is a good take though. My suggestion would be to get started on transcribing the saxophone solo. Rock on!
Good job Deleted! This is a very good solo that is very enjoyable to play and it's also a great practice for different techniques and expression. There are a two things that I would mark that you should pay attention while you practice this one:
- Dynamics: You play the whole solo with the same intensity, work on stronger and lighter picking to give the solo more dynamics which will give it more feeling and expression.
- Bending: This technique has some pitch issues sometimes. You have to work on your bending to make it more precise.
Keep on rocking!
Hehe! Great to see you tackling one of the difficult solos not in respect to technique or speed, but because of the interpretation
As Kris and Gabi suggested, please focus on dynamics - how? Listen to the original recording and see how to achieve an expression close to it - pick harder or softer when required, ok?
In respect to bending - Kris suggested one way and I will suggest a second one - try to record over the original and then listen in order to compare the takes in respect to bending - are your bends matching the ones in the original?
I'd be happy to help out with improving articulation skills and interpretation in general, so, please let me know if you are interested
and to add a bit more to my Kris and Cos suggestions, I would like to invite you to work on this lesson: http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Beginners-Corner-21-String-Bending/
Learn and practice the lesson over the original main video to be sure that you are reaching the correct pitch.
and also add the first exercise from the following video to your diary practice:
And if you want to work together on articulation, I would recommend one of my lessons (shameless pluggin ) which I think will give you a lot of training for developing your bending and articulation skills:

I got some really precious feedback here! Thanks guys, I will improve my bending and dynamics next to my alternate picking. I'm going to post a couple of songs in REC section really soon
Really great cover man! One thing I've noticed though is that on some of those bends you don't really pick with an emphasis. This solo has some bends that are accented by a hard pick and then it returns to smoother, softer picking.
Add that and you'll have a killer solo. I'm no expert by any means but I used to do the same thing for a long time before someone stopped me for a second and gave me that tip!
Great to know, man! PM me as soon as you wanna start In the mean time, I got another suggestion in respect to nuances and dynamics in playing:

John is definitely a master on the subject, so I tried to emulate his style as best as I could
