GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ Hotel California Setting

I need a kind of setting for the Hotel California Solo. I'm using a Boss ME 25 pedal and a Line 6 spider III amp.
Thanks biggrin.gif

Try a bit of rever, bit of delay, distortion about half way on the pedal, almost clean on the amp and turn the treble back a bit and use the neck pickup. This is just a general approach of course.

The best way to get the tone you want is honestly to play with all the settings until it starts sounding closer to the way you want. There are no hard fast rules to mimicking others tone other than "use their gear". You are using vastly different gear than the eagles so you aren't going to get their "exact" sound. But by paying around with your gear, you will learn what knobs make what changes so that when you have a sound in your head, you can quickly make it happen as much as possible on your gear.

I"d say invest in something that will let you record in to your computer like a pod so that you can experiment with guitar modeling. It's a great way to get wads of different tone without having to keep 200 amps in your bedroom smile.gif

This tone has a bit sharp trebly sound, so try to keep it simple as far as effects go. I would say a medium compressor, humbucking pickup, edgy overdrive and a bit more treble would be a good starting point. But as Todd said, try to listen to original, and work your way from there.
