Yep, its true - Fender are losing too many sales now to Line 6 Variax's, which are apparently selling quietly a rather large amount of guitars as word is spreading about how good they are.

So Fender have jumped on the bandwagon - and teamed up with Roland to produce a copy!!
imagine that !

Its amazing how many people write off the Variax who have never tried or heard one. There are quiet a few forums on the internet debating the good and bad of digital stuff. There seems to about a 50/50 split of people who love them and people who hate them but those that hate them can hardly ever tell the difference between a "real" '59 Strat and a Variax emulating one. Invariably in a blind test they pick the Variax as having a more "real" sound...then they come up with other excuses...lol
Most people once they have a half hour alone with a Variax in a quiet room end up buying one. Line 6 research has shown that the vast majority of people that actually play one alone for a while do buy, the difficulty line 6 have, is getting people to try them, though sales are starting to pick up massively according to un-named "industry sources" (probably line 6) lol.
Personally, I cant believe EVERYONE does not have one. There simply is nothing "better" for the money.
20 odd $3000 guitars, every famous quality guitar made.... all for less than $400...bargain.
