Ok lets see if I got the notes right, I started wondering when I came upon the D7 chord. anyways here goes.
you did:
C6 - C - E - G - A

Ami9 - A - C - E - G - B

Dmi9 - D - F - A - C - E

so that leaves
G11 - G - B - D - F - A - C

C - C - E - G

Am7 - A - C - E - G

Bm7 - B - D - F - A

D7 - D - F# - A - C ? Key change? From C maj to Gmaj?

F#m7 - F# - A - C - E

B9 - B - D# - F# - A - C# ? Key change? From Gmaj to Emaj?

E - E - G# - B

G7#5 - G - B - D# - F# ?

I dont think I am sure of whats going on here in this progression unsure.gif

Good job! Yes there is a few chord changes! smile.gif
So what we will be using for the first exercise:
C6, Am9, Dm9, G11, C, Am7 - D minor pentatonic/ A minor pentatonic

Bm7, D7, G6, G6, - B minor pentatonic/ E minor pentatonic
F#m7, B9, E, - E major pentatonic
G7#5 - E Harmonic Minor
E harmonic minor

I have decided to make it more complicated so added E harmonic minor since the chord is perfect for it! smile.gif
Let me know if you have any questions or need help!

Hey Alex! smile.gif
Sorry I took so long with this ,it was a challenge for sure,I am kind of out of my element here huh.gif I tried to use the scales you recomended as much as I could but also used some C Maj and added some blue notes to the penta scales here and there. I learned the rhythm and played along with the backing for a couple days so I could get my head around it before I really even tried coming up with a melody. The last few chat lessons with you helped out alot man thanks cool.gif

You did a great job! I would like you to keep it less busy and try to build it up one step at a time!
I did my take to give you ideas
http://soundcloud.com/alex-feather-akimov/akrich

I used the same scales and shapes I gave you! As you can hear I wasn't trying to play over every chord and sometimes just let it go! Continue my solo using the same approach!
Let me know if you have any questions or need help!

Hey Alex,

Yes the hand is fine, it was only sore for the next day after jamming the thumb. I just haven't had lots of time for playing lately and on top of that my creativity has been lacking lately as well, It's like sometimes I can get some good musical ideas flowing and other times , not so much, very inconsistent dry.gif , Maybe this progression has something to do with it, I dont know , It is not the kind of progression I have much experiance with, I can come up with ideas for the first half fairly well but the second half where it goes from the Am7 to the Bm7 and so on I am having trouble coming up with ideas that sound halfway decent to me. Also I was wondering if I should be trying to do a pure improvisation on this task or is it acceptable to put it together from different improvisational ideas I have come up with from just noodling around against the backing in various attempts? The latter is basically what I have been doing.
Also I was looking over my stated goals in the beggining of this thread and thinking it should be ammended to say I would like to incorporate different musical styles and techniques into my own playing to further develop my own style, I know it is not a huge differance from the previous stated goal but maybe it will give you a better idea of where I would like to go with my playing, basically I just want to develop my own progressive style rather than play alot of different styles of music , does this make sense?
Obviously playing against a progression where tonality kind of changes like this one is a weak point for me and something I need to work more on because I do feel it is important to be able to play over key changes and such so I will keep working on it.
Any tips would be much appreciated. Sorry for the delay Alex and thanks alot. smile.gif

I like your idea! How about we will do that: come up with your own chord progression that you feel comfortable playing over
Don't make it too simple though so we have some challenge
I will create a backing track for you and will be giving you assignments based on it!
Developing your own style is not easy you won't develop it if you don't play other styles cause you taking pieces from different musicians and composers and making it your own!
Let's start and we will see where it will take us! smile.gif

Hey Alex,
Sounds interesting, how did you want me to go about this exactly , Do I just give you a formula like just for example, a 1 4 5 progression and then pick a key?

Well I guess I mean how do you want me to give you the progression that you want me to come up with? Sorry if it's a silly question and for the slow response, I am starting to get busy again in the push towards winter.

Hey Alex sorry for the delay getting back to you , For some reason I am not getting email notifications on this thread even tho I have subscribed to it, and on top of that I have just started a new job that has me working some pretty crazy hours, 14 hours on my first day.
So unfortunately I think I am going to have to put this on hold for a while untill things wind down as we move into the fall and winter season.
Sorry for any inconvenience.

Thanks, Rich...
