GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Lesson Request! Raking, Please!

Posted by: sammetal92 Feb 11 2013, 05:22 PM

I searched it but didn't find a comprehensive lesson on the raking technique, I looked at Muris' and Ivan's lessons but still needed a deep analysis of the technique so I could break it down into parts and practice it. I suck at raking, I tried to learn from so many different sources and people, but this topic isn't given much importance in my honest opinion.

Its a very important technique at least for me and many aspiring guitarists I know. I'd love to rake but I just can't do it sad.gif

Please, if any instructor can do it, I am requesting a lesson on the raking technique! smile.gif Thank you!

Hi Sam, I've been talked about raking a few times before.. I speak about it in the 2nd video part (the spoken one) of my latest lesson

http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Rockin-The-Blues/

Check it out from 2:00 onwards.

I assume this is what you mean by 'raking'. I have seen some people use the word 'raking' when they meant sweep picking so maybe you meant sweeping. But if it's the same thing I'm thinking of, then i hope I can help you smile.gif

Yes! That's exactly what I was talking about! biggrin.gif I don't know why I didn't notice that lesson at first, but that's exactly the thing I was saying, its really cool sounding and almost every guitarist who has inspired me uses raking extensively smile.gif Thanks, I'm gonna bookmark it and start practicing ASAP! smile.gif

I use "raking" all the time! but I didn't know this was the way to call it... there is not an Spanish name for this... Zakk Wylde uses this technique a lot for example. Let us know Sam if it's clear after seeing Ben's spoken video. smile.gif

It is pretty clear smile.gif But if someone can make a lesson focused on this, that's even better smile.gif and yeah, I've added Ben's lesson to my daily practice routine
