Im looking for a band that will JumpStart my technique ( so to speak.)

I just wanna dive into a band and learn most of their songs and get something out of it for techniques like : Speedpicking, legato, sweeping, double stops, hybrid picking and sweep-taps.

I dont want the band have extremley hard songs but I want to learn some songs that cover a broad range of Technique.
I also want the band to be like a Checkpoint, something that once I get used to their stuff I want to be able to move onto other bands.

I like metal, rock, punk, and a varitey of other types of music.

Any Recommendations of what Band/ Song I should start learning material from ?

Thanks smile.gif

i love metallica, maybe start with enter sandman and try and get that down perfectly. then maybe move onto nothing else matters, that has a great intro and also a great solo.

just listen to metallica loads and pick out 3 or 4 songs which sound great but aren't that technical, then practice, practice, practice! biggrin.gif

I agree with Kaznie, try to cover Enter Sandman, learn the song. You can get the POD if you lucky, and you will learn the song too. How cool is that smile.gif

It is pretty cool indeed. However I have no way to upload my playing because were in the process of getting a new computer and I already have the Pod biggrin.gif

Im looking into Megadeth but it seems hard to follow their solos just because there so technical.

Im also looking at Master of the Puppets smile.gif

Iron Maiden maybe, lots of great bands out there? But I don't recommend focusing only on one band..Pick out favorite songs from different bands and learn them..That will give you versatility in techniques learned too. But keep in mind when learning songs , learn them completely from start to end..That way you won't be in trouble when somebody asks you what songs you can play smile.gif

Iron Maiden rules !!! hehehe, and if you like Dream Theater it would be a great idea smile.gif there are some easy songs from DT...

You can also try to learn your favorite riffs smile.gif in fact I'm thinking in doing a DT mix with my favourite parts and recording tham with my cam as a tribute !! smile.gif
