Hey there GMC!
A few days ago my mother was kind enough to purchase Native Instruments' Komplete 6 package for my birthday, after she heard my newest composition (Symphony of the Sands)*. Jafomatic has been incredibly altruistic in helping me with the process and getting known with FL Studio 9 as well as Komplete 6 (although he's never used the samplers), so a huge thank you to him! Thank you to Zen and Sollesnes amongst others who have been able to put up with my endless nagging and support my ego! Last but not least, thank you to Dr Artemus whose advice will help me finish these songs with a higher quality than they are currently at! Here's the video, and I hope you like the extra work I put into the video presentation! -------------------- My YouTube Channel

Some nice arrangements in there Alex! I must say though, as I was being drawn into the tune, a new one would start. Would love to hear a few of them complete. Good job so far with the creativity man! It's a teaser I could send you a link to the complete songs, but only if you want to hear them despite the fact that they are not 100% finished... -------------------- My YouTube Channel

But I must agree to what Skennington said, a whole piece will be lovely to listen to! Awesome! //Staffay Wow that's overwhelming Staffy I don't want to post the full songs yet though, they still need some adjustment, and I'm sure they'll improve once I've had more experience with Komplete 6 etc. All the songs except for Symphony of the Sands were composed more than half a year ago, so they might even need some adjustment when it comes to content, let alone quality... I would really appreciate it if you read the description on my video on YouTube and comment... Really good stuff. You have a future in film/tv composition ahead of you, if you go for it. Thank you! I am juggling between medicine and composing/music, but in the end I know I will become a doctor. The only question is whether or not I will continue composing... If you can do both, then do so. Art is an expression of the soul that can also bring life and healing. I noticed, which is what brought me to GMC today. I recognised your user name from here. You can't go wrong with Komplete 6. It's a brilliant, high-quality package. I've also just added EWQL customised composer's collection to my arsenal which opens up another new world with heaps of ethnic instruments. I am going to do both when I grow up I stil have to learn the many secrets of Komplete 6 before I spend more money... By the way, I also found another YouTube channel which seems to be dealing with the same style as you. Maybe you could draw some inspiration from him... https://www.youtube.com/user/CapoProductionz And one more thing... The music on your channel is undeniably yours. But how do you deal with copyrights? Can you become a YouTube partner if you use other people's pictures, or aren't they very strict concerning pictures, but rather video...? Thanks for the link. I'll check it out. First, I try to get permission for images I use. Sometimes where it's not possible to track down the copyright holder, I will still only use the image for non-commercial purposes. ie. I use youtube for social networking, not for monetization of my music. If a person wanted to join some kind of revenue sharing program then you would definitely need to have all the copyright clearances, or leave yourself open to damages claims. However, the kinds of ad-driven monetization schemes that are available on youtube are EXTREMELY problematic for composers who write for music libraries and the like, so I would not participate in them anyway. Interesting! How do you prevent your music from being stolen etc. ? Do you have copyright? -------------------- My YouTube Channel

Alex this is beyond great man, I am really thrilled with everything you presented here. I am also very happy that you acknowledged Jafo, Zen, Solle and Art for all their contribution. All those guys are amazing and can help you a lot in your future work Onto your arrangements and compositional aspects... I could picture different scenes with your music in the background which is great because your music has some flow and direction (which is very important when it comes to film scoring). Like most guys said here, I would love to hear complete works of all these tracks. Rob already gave you great suggestions. Don't put this on Youtube before you copyright it. You see my youtube channel, it doesn't have any original music, all covers or etude type content. There are plenty of websites and musician unions that you can join that would help you protect your music. In a most basic form what you can do is fill in the form (PDF) and submit your original recordings. In return you get some return document stating that you are protected from such and such and your rights. I haven't done this yet but in Boston I directed some of my students to do it who got into some serious arranging. Will send you soon some website where you can protect your music, have to check myself first Overall this is great man You are very young and are obviously very driven in your musical goals. I wish you all the best with this work and keep me updated with your projects. I will leave a comment on Youtube now Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow! OVERWHELMING, Pedja Man that would be so great, you are far too kind... I will keep in touch with you as I keep working on the songs, and thank you again for wanting to help! Too many happy smileys -------------------- My YouTube Channel

Just a couple of quick suggestions for copyright in Europe:
try contacting the PRS and through them you can register your composition and/or original recording. PRS are also the people to whom you apply if you use any works already copyrighted by another party - including if you record a cover version. There are suitable equivalents to the PRS in the USA/S America and also Australasia for those outside Europe. PRS can help wrt also obtaining and protecting you work as a digital format including advice on suitable DRM (Digital rights management) etc. And mastering engineers usually have suitable software and cd burners that allow a CDA/SACD to be burnt with copy protection added. OK thanks for your time I The problem is just that I am not sure when I'm actually going to copyright my songs. I mean doesn't that mean that if I change them, I need to get another copyright? Does it costs money to copyright songs? Copyright exists on any composition for 70 years in most countries. Where PRS are helpful is in demonstrating that you hold the copyright and in enforcing it and collecting any money due. If all you do is rely on the 70 year 'rule' you have the problem of enforcing it and protecting your work: PRS can help do this for you. PRS are a society and as such to use them fully you have to be a member - once you are I think but I'm not 100% certain that you can use the services gratis or at a reduced cost. PRS are helpful and can provide all the necessary details and also offer advice on how to protect your work. WRT copyrighting work in progress - I don't think that's the way to go. For a composition you should really IMO protect the finished work. If you subsequently change it then I'd think the best approach is to obtain any new licenses, ISRC (for CDA recording), etc., necessary. Multiple, different compositions/versions under a single license/ISRC etc would IMO be nightmare to administer both for the copyright owner and those attempting to assign rights and make payments/collect dues. -------------------- Get your music professionally mastered by anl AES registered Mastering Engineer.
