Hey guys,
it's time for another audio collab.For this occasion I have prepared a simple progression - E7M / F#!
Guitarists like Steve Vai, Satriani,.. often use this mode in their songs.
Scales that you can play through this progression: E Lydian, E major pentatonic , B major ..
Conditions are the same as same as on the previous collabs:
One take along with a backing track, and one solo take- just guitar !!!
Backing track:
Lydian_Collab.mp3 ( 1.98MB )
: 1760
Deadline: 15.February
Some suggestions :
Do your best !!!
Cool Sin looks like you are continuing with the modal theme in your collabs, nice backing man , I hope I can find the time to record something over this. Thanks!
48 Downloads and just ONE response ?!? Come on guuuuuys...
Hey Sinisa! I'm in for this one! I can't let AK Rich walk alone down the Lydian Pathway! Great backing! I'll try and work something up by the deadline.
Sinisia, I really dig this one.....but I'm not as familiar with modal playing, so it's both an extremely beneficial lesson for me, and also a bit tougher. But don't worry, I will be submitting (unfortunately just video with audio combined, because I have no recording interface yet) something soon because I don't pass up on a challenge!! I played to this for a bit, twice, over the last few days. I want to lock down some cool phrasing, since I'm not as familiar at "feeling" around that pattern. But don't despair! I WILL join this party soon!!
I think over 40 downloads with no submissions just means that people are taking it seriously, and working out some TIGHT phrasing (such as myself)!!
Thanks Sinisia!
-Gabriel
Thanks guys,we'll see whether you are right !
@Gabriel
Try to use just B natural major scale, with an emphasis on the tone E, you'll be surprised
Ah only just found this
hey this sounds crazy, but Would it stilll be OK if I posted my take tonight? I really like the backing on this one
Ah don't worry about it my camera screwed up anyway
Hey Sinisa, just to let you know I have not forgot about this one, just had a busy day today, but I will upload my take later tonight or tomorrow at the latest.
No problemo guys , I'll wait a few days,thanks
okay cheers..
Once we've done it though, how do we get it to you? I mean we do the three files, one video, one audio of just the guitar and another of the guitar with the backing track, but if you want me to send it to you on RapidShare then I'm not sure that'll work.. whenever I try to upload anything to RapidShare it comes up with an error..
Thanks! Okay I'll attach them now. Sorry for kinda postponing the whole thing.. but here it is!
Hey Max ,this is so good ,thanks !
Rich ? C.Strat ? where are you guys ?! )))

Hey man, sorry about the delay, my stupid internet was down anyway here is my take. I don't know if its truly a Lydian sound, since I'm still learning how to apply modes, but I tried to use mostly B Major scale, with emphasis on the E note. Really enjoyed playing around with this track, and looking forward to your comments and everyones takes.
...wait, you can't be mad at us for breaking deadlines? Wish I knew that sooner, I was scared you knew where we all lived and would hunt us down if we were too late!
@CasinoStrat
Heehehe ,my man Super take !
Wait , about deadlines ... Don't worry,I know where you live ! You're late just for the next day and......hmmmmm
Hey Boss!
Sorry man but I am not going to be able to participate in this collab so dont wait around on me. I am going to take some time off from playing , at least I am going to try. I have come up against a wall it seems and bounced backwards, not really sure whats going on but durring the past few months my playing seems to be getting worse rather than better so I think I am just going to try and resist the urge to pick up my guitars for a week or so for starters and redirect my attention to other areas I need work on such as music theory.
Sorry if I caused an inconvieniance for you waiting on a take from me.If you are interested I posted a more detailed explanation of my dilema on Bens board here.

Hopefully a little time off is all I need to get back on track but as of now I am extremely frustrated in my backwards progress and taking a break is all I can think of that may help.
Ok guys, here it is a FINAL MIX !
Sorry to say, at the end of the story were only two participants. Perhaps the Modals are still under the veil of secrecy, but we'll reveal that, I hope. Anyway, I believe that in my new Collab will be much more of you, guys.

FG ( Frank Gambale)
Excellent shot! Tone, phrasing, the timing. Also you cared about the dynamics and structure of the whole solo section, part by part. Everything is in place, with the measure and without unnecessary acrobatics. I have no major objections, moreover I wish you more and more such beautiful solos. Keep rocking !!!
CS (Carlos Santana)
Great one! I see that you are, as you said, still new at this, yet you managed to do quite a good job. You have a few phrases that I like very much, a couple of Bends which are excellent, and so on, but, my major complain is on the timing ! With the right timing -the whole improvisation would sounds perfectly !!! This is most noticeable when you enter into a fast section. Take care about it Good Job !!
Thanks again guys, you did a great job
See you on a next collaboration - that just beginning !!!
Thanks a lot Sinisa!! Sounds great!
Can't wait for any future collabs you have going on!
Thanks for the kind words my friend! Yeah timing in faster sections is a continuing trouble area for me, but I'm gonna practice till I get it right. Great sounding final mix, and I thought "Frank Gambale" did a great job!
hmmm.....CS....Carlos Santana......does this give me a good excuse to get a new PRS guitar?
