Heya GMC,

My new band is going to cover Come Clean by Hilary Duff... rolleyes.gif (It was my idea to be honest tongue.gif)

Have you got any tips that could make us sound less gay!? biggrin.gif I should sound badass, but I have a strange feeling we're going to look like a bunch of queers on stage ahaha.

Please help! Rehearsal's sunday and I gotta prepare the song a lot more than I have now.

Thanks in advance smile.gif

Distortion is your friend . . . .(That's my answer for most things in life).

In all seriousness -I did not know the song but quickly listend to it on YouTube, and its workable with more of an alternative feel - ditching the synths, and giving it a more driving rythmn/backbeat. I would use distortion, power chords, but we don't really know what style your band is, so don't know what your aiming for

Make sure you record it, as we want to hear it

Rock out the arrangement, and bring on a hot female guest vocalist to sing the song. Best of both worlds......... tongue.gif

If you can't get a female vocalist like black and white said, you can always try to do what COB did with Britney Spears' Oops I did it again laugh.gif

Yeah heavy distortion, solo's, a couple of screams/growls every now in then or cover a band that is less gay haha sorry if that offended you.

I take great pride in not really knowing who Hilary Duff is. Not having turned on a tv in years makes that easy.

But that is a good idea, to take some genre and change it. You might get this banned and warned over the gay remark but in case this thread lives a bit, here is an example of a band who does this a lot, worlds greatest cover band. Generally you punk it out. This one was a cover of a Dixie Chicks song, first the Dixie Chicks, then the cover.

Why would that offend me? Well, what I tried to say is, you gotta work with what you got...I wouldn't say that covering someone like Duff would be gay, it just makes you less of a rocker or headbanger, such as Tokio Hotel blink.gif, but in the case of COB, they picked up a horrible music, atleast for my musical taste, and spiced it up a bit using their own style. That's what you have to do, and either two things. Either your own style is gay, or the music was just not enough to make it sensacional, get it man? smile.gif

OK, lets not talk in terms of "looking Gay" - it might be misinterpreted as homophobia. Instead, lets concentrate on looking macho or cool on stage - Andrew

Yes, yes she does.

On topic: If someone remember the song "La Isla Bonita" of Madonna, a band called Twilight Guardians have made a metal version of that.

Madonna
Twilight Guardian

You could get some tips from them ^^

We almost pissed ourselves laughing while playing it... I've got to be honest, we didn't make it past the first verse. I don't think this is going to work live. I will try to record something though! I'll post it when it's finished.
