Hey Muris.
It's been a while
Anyways, some people I know are gonna be doing a gig on saturday, and they asked me to come and play just a couple of songs with them (like 3 or 4).
And, as you can probably Imagine, I'm pretty nervous... since I've never done public shows before.
So what I wanted to ask you was, how was your first Gig, and do you have any advice for a first timer?
thanks
Hey Slamm,it's been a while indeed, good to hear from you!!
How was my first gig?
Can't recall really, when and where was that,no idea...
But here's quick advice.
Try to play tunes you're comfortable with,
easy to understand why, will make you feel good and confident.
And main thing is to play " for yourself", sort of speech.
Imagine you're in your room with your buddies,
trying to have a good time while audience is there just in passing by.
Conclusion is,if you have good time on stage, they will have good time watching and listening.
Simple as that
Hey thanks alot.
Thats just the advice I was hoping for.
btw. now that I think about it, you have done so many gigs that you definetly woudn't remember your first
Thanks again
Just thought I'd add that being nervous is something everyone is before a gig, theres nothing to do about it. Its because you are nervous that the gig gets soooo much more awesome when you finish the last song.
Trust me, the second you plug the guitar in you wont be nervous at all.
Good luck and have fun!!
Hey, thanks everyone for the advice
Hey.
Anyways, last night was the gig.
LOL, it went pretty good, it was at a resturant/bar.
Funny thing is I thought there was gonna be a bunch of ppl there. But by the time I played it was like 11:30 pm, so there was only about 7 ppl there
But it was fun, I played a couple songs.
And at the end we played sweet home chicago, and I got to bust out back to back solos
a couple ppl came and commented on my playing, so that was cool too.
So, thanks once again for the good advice.
Hey Slamm,glad it went cool!!
Let me tell you one more thing,I've had gigs in front of 5 people up to tens of thousands.
And best feeling is to play for couple of guys, real interaction is there.
I mean, you can interact with large crowd as well but it's not that personal and nice,
I guess you felt that and they felt it too, that's why they came to you to comment your playing.
Thumbs up mate
I always get overly excited before a gig. Never get nervous and never have. Think of it as a good opportunity to show your artistic talent to everyone and if you mess up say something funny about it. Laugh it off. But mostly enjoy it.
