GMC Forum _ Pablo Vazquez _ Heavy Ballad Soloing - Two String Alternate Picking Part Question

Posted by: Nighthawk Apr 12 2008, 01:59 PM

Hey there Pablo, how are ya ?

I would also like to ask you a question about the two string alternate picking part in video 4 of your awesome lesson "heavy ballad soloing". I've seen that somebody here asked something about alternate picking too but I can't make out what the person asked you specifically because I don't know any Spanish unsure.gif So if I am asking the same thing I'm sorry...So here comes the question...Well, I've been practising your lesson for month now but I really don't see to make any progress concerning the two string alternate picking part. I really love that technique alla Zakk but I just can't pass the 75bpm line let alone achieve 110 (i think) you play. I've been very patient really but I think I can't make it if I repeat this lick over and over again. So do you know any other specific exercices which I could learn in order to come back to the two string lick later more succesfully? I've also tried Kris alternate picking lessons and considered all the tips but eventually there I've got the same problem. I also watched Pavel's lessons on alternate picking but those are mostly on one string.

So maybe you can help me a little with that out my friend....so thank you a lot in advance...greetings smile.gif

Hey!! I understand you at all. I have the same problem and I have only one answer... practice and be patience. When I practice these excersices (or anothers) I started in a very slow time, then I tried to play them in another scales or strings, day after day, mounth after mounth... for all the time I need to play it as I wish.
If the excersice drives you crazy, forget it for a couple of days and then, try again.
I hope be helpfull... If you got another questions or want to tell me something about it or about any other thing I'll be here!
See you friend!

Thank you Pablo, I've been practising other AP lessons lately and came back to that specific part and i think it feels a little bit more controlled... rolleyes.gif

Hey Nighthawk, this is by far one of my favorite Pablo's lessons. As a matter of fact, this is one of my favorite lessons in GMC. Every day I practice religiously 10 to 12 lessons, and I have included this one since it was first uploaded. At first, I thought that I was never going to be able to nail the alternate picking part but, modesty apart; I am doing pretty well right now! As Pablo said, it takes time, and there's no way I am doing it perfectly, but I can assure you that you will be amazed with your improvement if you practice it 15 minutes every day!

Take care!
