CHAPTER 2. FRUITY LOOPS:
Changing MIDI to MP3 in my BT

Well, now we may locate the MIDI file in our computer and then we may import it in the FRUITY LOOPS so, open this program and click to import wink.gif

Now we have all the tab that we do in guitar pro imported into the Fruity loops. You can see all the previous chanels that we created in the Guitarpro. Just see smile.gif

This is our session but if you click the PLAY button you can listen nothing, this tracks are MIDI files, so they don't have asigned any sound. Then we may assign this sound. What I usually do is replacing the channel by another with a good sound, so I usually use VST, for instance BroomstickBass, EWQL Symphonic Orchestra or Addictive Drums (I will explain something about VSTs and sample in another chapter tongue.gif)

Now see how I replace the channels by a VST or a soundfont or a sample

VSTs:

Soundfonts:

Samples:

Well finally we will have all the chanels replaced with a great sound, now we can add some effects or manipulate the sounds, (will explain how to do it in another lesson) and then we will be ready to export the file to Mp3

Saving as = guardar como (hehe, in Spanish language tongue.gif)

And the last window: in this window you can change the Mp3 quality or you can decide to export to Wav (I usually use Mp3 bitrate: 300

That's all, now we have the Backing Track biggrin.gif

I must say that I don't export all channels in the same Mp3 but also I export one by one, I export every channel to a different Mp3 so I would hav 15 Mp3 laugh.gif But it works better for me to do de mix and to be sure all the chanels (or instruments) have the correct volumen, panning and effects biggrin.gif

See you in chapter 3 !! be patient. To be continued...

Hola Juan,

I was wondering if you could do a lesson on how to do the BT directly in fruity loops, not using guitar pro.

Gracias Juan.

BTW these lessons are awesome.

It's a great idea, now I have a program that allows me to record all what is happening in my desktop, so I ask to kris if I could do my recording lessons with a video biggrin.gif (like a standard lesson)

I think it would be awesome, and too much better than doing it with those pics.

Fruity loops is a good program to create a Mp3 or WAv files, for instance backing tracks, but in the filed of MIDI files I prefer Guitarpro. BTW fruity can do it too.
