Whats with all the floyd rose hate, there so easy to setup once you learn how. if you want better sustain from a floyd rose there are so many options! such as adding a brass block and adding a tremel-no which can adjust! i bet i can make a floyd rose guitar with as much if not more sustain than a fixed bridge. I'm with You in this one Victor, I had several guitars in the old days with Floyd's and I never had any tuning problems. (ofc. it was real Floyd's) They even stayed in tune from one gig to another... And bout the sustain, I dont realize why a fixed bridge should give more sustain? It is as well attached with two screws to the body - eg. the vibration of the strings goes through these - and so is the Floyd.... However, I dont use Floyd's nowadays, because I dont really need to do any divebombs, and they are far too expensive in combination that You have to route the body as well.... //Staffay -------------------- Guitars: Ibanez AM-200, Ibanez GB-10, Fender Stratocaster Classic Player, Warmouth Custom Built, Suhr Classic Strat, Gibson Les Paul Standard 2003, Ibanez steel-string Amps: Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, Marshall JMP 2103, AER 60 Effects: BOSS DD-20, Danelectro Trans. I have guitar with Floyd Rose style tremolo. It took me a little effort to learn how to set up and tune properly. It was well worth the effort because now I would never use anything else. I love the Floyd tremolo because my guitar stays in tune and it's easy to tune but I hardly have to touch it. There are lots of videos on youtube that show you how to use Floyd. It takes some practice but once you get it you will never regret it. Some Ibanez guitars in his price range actually come with very good locking trem system like Floyd but its called Edge.
I recommend you look at the Ibanez RG or Ibanez S series guitars because they are great for rock and have decent trem systems that come stock. If you are looking for a really nice guitar that is not Floyd and is also great for rock.....then check out the Sterling JP50. It has a tremolo but not locking like a floyd. It has humbucker pickups meaning great for rock. It also has locking tuners which should help it stay in tune. I think it is unusual to have a guitar in this price range to come with locking tuners. Fender Deluxe Player strat? Or Lone Star I have the same budget, and I tend to go for a PRS SE custom, they now have a 25th anniversary edition, which gives you great quality for your money! This made me look up the new guitars for PRS this year and I came across the Mikael Akerfeldt PRS SE, very interesting guitar imo, looks amazing too. Something I'd be interested in. On second thought, the band logo kinda spoils it... You can get both the customs and the singlecuts as a hardtail or with a trem, whichever you prefer.
