GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Does Anyone Know Of A Way

To remove guitar parts from songs?

I don't have a band but I love jamming out to songs with music as opposed to just with myself, obviously.

Does anyone know of a way to get ahold of, or edit songs to remove a guitar part so I could play along with it like a band?

I don't know how to remove the guitar from a song. I know there is software that "removes" the singing, for making karaoke tracks. Guess there is similar software for guitar but I don't know of any.

I have saved a bookmark for a site with backingtracks but I can't find it now. It's been posted on these forums before so try searching GMC for "backingtracks" or something.

If you are into David Gilmour www.gilmourish.com have a section of PF songs without guitar tracks.

/edit excessive use of .com removed

The amaziong slowdowner has a function for this (its called a stereo cancellation function) - I haven't tried it but as with any software of this type, the results will be variable and usually far from perfect.

I dont have any thoughts on removing guitar from a song but I have a couple of ideas.

1) As suggested earlier, you can always find plenty of backing tracks online

2) If you own Guitar Pro you can mute any of the instruments. So you could open a tab and mute the guitar part. If you use the RSE plugins the music will sound more realistic and you won't be playing with a MIDI band.
