Guten Morgen (good evening in German),

Alright everybody, I've run into a rather frustrating problem, so I was wondering if I could get some help

I'm currently building my own guitar. So far I have an ESP Forest body on order, a Steve Vai JEM vine inset neck being made, and a floyd rose bridge
What's caugh me is the pickups

I am a huge fan of metal
heavy metal
But I also enjoy neoclassical style music, especially Luca Turilli styled music. So my question is, what kind of a setup should I go for as far as pickups go? I remember Pavel introducing me to the H-S-H and H-H setup, and I noticed his JEM was an H-S-H setup

So what do you all think?

Also, what brand of pickups/humbuckers would you suggest for heavy metal/neoclassical/solo type music?

Danke,
-Matt

H-H with either EMG humbuckers or Jackson Humbuckers, simple is key for metal, you want a 3 option switch, front, back, both. don't go more complex than that, thats why my recommendation is gunna be H-H.

Well, if you're building a JEM why not use the DiMarzio Evolution pu's?

And about the HSH or HH... what fits the body you ordered?

If you run a HH setup the 5-may multipole Ibanez switch will open for bridge, singlecoil, both, both in parallell, neck.
A threeway switch will make bridge, both, neck

And I seriously don't know which Singlecoil pu to use in a HSH with Evo2's, Evolutions or Breed. I've been looking too for what to put to there in my guitar with DiMarzio Breed pu's (when I finish it) Still missing the Breed Bridge pu laugh.gif

It's an ESP Forest Body

The main difference between my design and this one is, well obviously, this is a 7 string
But that is basically what I'm going for
