I would suggest looking for a different tech to do the job! Its a rip-off for the task at hand. That string height is called "Action". You can lower it by lowering strings at the bridge, adjusting the truss rod and possibly adjusting the nut (grinding etc).
Its best to leave the job to professional if you never done it, but you can try it yourself its not that hard. Here are some resources online about it: http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/trussadjust.htm http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/action.htm You can also download a users manual from Fender.com for some guitars, they all include those adjustment information a how to. -------------------- For GMC support please email support (at) guitarmasterclass.net

Well, around here, they ask about 80€ for a complete check. That's the reason I will do it by myself.

I'll show my new gear in a topic tomorrow. It's just a bit too much cause I already paid for a set-up today, and I came home noticing the strings weren't the same height so I think I'm getting way to rip off.. If you paid for a setup already and you're not satisfied - Complain! -------------------- My bands homepage

As Marc is suggesting, not all guitars have a neck of the same radius. What kind of neck is it?

If you press the 6th string on first and the last fret, is there any distance between strings and frets in the middle of the fretboard?

Something just came into my head...The guy is not british, I'm not british. What if he meant 18£? Hehhe its possible! 80£ is abnormal price but its not impossible I guess...Ask him again about the price, and regarding the second guitar - take it back for a complain. No strings should buzz after proper setup! -------------------- For GMC support please email support (at) guitarmasterclass.net

80 quid is ridiculous. When you asked him to change the "distance between the frets and strings" he probably thought he could take you for a ride. What a tool.

I'd suggest to have another view by other professional. Don't leave yourself with only one opinion.
