During the summer, I am getting a part time job to buy a new guitar. I drove down to the local Mom and Pop store just to browse, and I fell in love with two different guitars. The first one was a:

Schecter C-1 Hellraiser
Mahogany body (Black Cherry finish includes Quilted Maple Top)
Set, 3-piece mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard
24 X-jumbo frets
25-1/2" scale
Ultra-access cutaway
EMG active 81TW/89 pickups
Push/pull knob for single-coil on 81TW
Volume/volume/tone controls
3-way pickup switch
Grover tuners
Abalone binding on Black Cherry & White, Gray Pearl Binding on Black
Gothic cross fretboard inlays
TonePros tune-o-matic bridge with thru-body design

see it here: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Schecter-C-1-H...451-i1385936.gc

The second choice is a:

B C Rich NT Jr. V

Nato Body Sides
Two Piece Quilt Maple Veneer Top
Hard Maple Neck
Neck-thru Construction
Ebony Fingerboard
Widow Headstock
25 1/2" Scale
24 Jumbo Frets
Diamond Inlays
Black Hardware
2 BSDM Humbucker Pickups
Licensed Floyd Rose Tremolo

see it here: http://www.guitarcenter.com/B-C--Rich-NT-J...686-i1320385.gc

That sums it up, go to the store a few times and try absolutely everything in your price range while keeping an open mind. Its suprising how many times something you thought you'd hate ends up being your favourite guitar.

Yeah the last part is very true. You may expect something may not be what you want but once you play it you may love it.

Also if someone tells you oh get this get that, don't think that it will always benefit you to always listen because you may not like the guitar afterwards. Try it out for yourself and get what you are comfortable with spending the money on.

I would get the hellraiser because of the EMGs, plus it looks like a nicer guitar

I would have gone for the Schecter without hesitation.

Schecter is of really good and reliable quality, and (in my opinion) B.C Rich'es feel like plastic and i'm not so sure i would trust that licensed floyd rose. But thats just my opinion smile.gif

But try them out and see what plays best for you. There's also some good Ibanezes in that pricerange

I would try out different guitars before making a decision smile.gif
But if it is between those two, I'd go for the Schecter smile.gif
