hello GMC's..

i have been trying to learn a couple of songs, knocking on heavens door from guns 'n roses and paradise city. but there is some fingerstyle in the begining of those song.
so i when i try to play it slow i always use the wrong fingers on the wrong string.
i have attached the tab so you can see them

i found the tabs on www.ultimate-guitar.com

i choosed those songs because i think they sound very cool. and uses a small amount of chords

As I was taught at least, when playing finger-style you want to split up the strings with your fingers. The thumb takes the 6th,5th, and 4th strings, your index finger gets the 3rd, middle gets the 2nd, and ring the 1st. And kind of like the way speed picking is with alternate picking, unless there's a very pressing reason in the song not to you want to keep that right hand setup always.

For practicing, try finding 'basic travis picking patterns' online. There should be some. Good luck!

Travis picking is pretty much another name for "fingerstyle" though "a common variant of fingerstyle guitar" is probably the best way to put it. More or less there are several patterns(commonly 'inside out' 'outside in' 'pinch' and appreggio) which encompass it.

I cant really explain it very well. Maybe http://hobbies.expertvillage.com/interview...tyle-guitar.htm will help
